Ok, all you new players out there, don't make the smae mistake I did. When you go to buy your first gun, although going to wal-mart or canadian tire and getting that $200 kit that gets you everything you need seems like a great idea, it's not. Go to your local proshop, and have them show you some other guns, and for a little more, you can get a setup that is better quality, and has a better warranty, not a 30-day return policy. I made this mistake and bought a VL orion kit for $200, and while it was an ok beginner gun, it was constantly letting me down. Learn from my mistake!

SUCH A GOOD IDEA!
All you new players, listen to him! He is SO right lol. They rip you off when you get those "value packages". When I got my first gun, it was in a package. Viewloader Triad. It didnt shoot that great. I ended up buying another gun about a week later because that one sucked so bad lol. Take that $200 and go to a good proshop like he said and talk to the guy.
 born2shoot, GREAT advice

Not all packages have bad markers in them. They may be a waste of money though. You will probably end up upgrading all the asseceries in that package, so save yourself some money and just buy the decent stuff first.

good thread, wtg Born :)
something else that I wanna add, from my own mistakes. Take into account the cost of your gear, before you start thinking about upgrades. especially if you are on a budget.
Even if you get the starter kits. I mean, a lot of the gear that come in them are cheap, or stuff that you'll improve anyway.
prioritize your spending on stuff like that. get the stuff that's most important first.

If your gonna get a package, get one over the internet. I have seen packages for 100 that comes with a spyder, hopper, elbow, standard mask, tank, you know the things that are needed. But dont go to wally world and say "Oh look, a Viewloader, I have heard of them, and look, an electric hopper(quantum), I must need it for the fast gun." Although it is true that this may start you into the sport, it isnt the best value, far from it actually.

I've also seen a lot of package deals that werent really deals. at least not if you look at the items that are in it and then do some shopping around and find out that you can find those items for less than what they would be in the package deal.
hope that made sense...
