I would also look into a J&J Pro-1, if you can find one that is. Pro-1 and the CP are about equal I think.

CP > Ceramic from my experience. The Ceramic has a slightly inconsistent coating on the inside.

If you don't want a CP 1 piece look into a Lapco Bigshot.

The Self cleaning system is really over rated, you still have to use a squigee to get the same accuracy as it was when it was clean.....(my english is terrible and I know it!)

ya but the xcel is also large bore, meanin less gas efficiency and stuff? u know wut kidan paint u were using when u shot through the xcel? ive be usin medium bore paint. and i was usin heats (very small bore) through my VL barrel and that was workin awesome. hard to get small paint at a cheap price so i wanna new barrel. so about the xcel bein large, let me know...

My Xcel bore is .691, I've had my Xcel for over 4 years and it is my favorite barrel for under $50, but I haven't used the CP 1 piece. I like having a slightly larger bore barrel because I use so many different brands of paint that I have had problems with using a .689 barrel because of breaks. As for the reduced efficiency, yes it will be less efficient, but it really isn't a big issue IMO, its not like you get several hundred less shots.

ight thx, still dunno yet. probably JJ ceramic or CP. even bein a large bore is the xcel really accurate with most paints??

I truly think it is the best low end barrel I have ever owned. At one time or another I have owned an J&J Ceramic, SP Progressive, Lapco Bigshot, and the Xcel. Out of those 4 I felt the Xcel was the best barrel in terms of accuracy and paint compatibility. Any one of the barrels you listed can have good accuracy with a good paint/barrel match. But if you want a barrel that does a good job shooting field paint then I think the Xcel was the best at shooting a wide range of different sizes and brands of paintballs. If I were to buy another low end barrel I can easily say the Xcel is the only one of those 4 I personally would buy again, but that is just me.

Dye products are always high quality, and last time I checked the Xcel was relatively cheap.

I used the excel, it wasnt that great, or even better than the cheap smartparts barrels..... Lapco autospirit or bigshot would be your best choice byfar.......
Bigshot with blaze shoots darts if you got ur gun regulated good...Even the barrel tests pretty much every one shows the bigshot owns the other barrels' asses cept for the ultralite, the snapshot, (boomstick which is same as ultralite but steel)
