View Full Version : CP reg or AKA 2 liter?
I am planning on buying a '05 BKO and upgrading it to the equilvelent of a B2k.
I was wondering if the 2 liter is worth the money or would the Cp reg work just as well?

2 liter is one of if not the best reg you can buy. CP is good too. i just ordered a cp. If you are willing to drop 100 bucks for a reg, i recomend you save up the little bit more and pick up a b2k5. bko 4 way and a 2 liter alone would be the price of a b2k. wait for the b2k5 to come out, in the mean time save your pennys.
IMO an uppgraded b2k will be better than a upgraded bko. bottom line. If you get the 4 way noid mod, it would be good, but it wouold have been smarter to get the b2k up front.

well performance-wise the 2-liter is awesome, but I personally dont see the point of buying a reg for $100 when a $60 or $80 reg gives as much performance as you need. So I'd buy a CP for $60, and take the $40 I saved and buy a new valve with it.

the 2 liter is better...but not worth 2x the price tag...

actually, www.akalmp.com now has sidewinders for $75, so they are now only $15 more new.

Still cant beat the CP!!!
I switched from the Sidewinder to the CP and I have never looked back. I recently got my hands on a 2Liter and I plan on putting it through its paces to see how it works. Chances are I will still use a CP because I hate gas lines that come in on the side of the reg instead of on the bottom of the reg.

yeah...its also about feel. i cant stand the fitting being on the wrong side...
but the 2 liter extention caps have a nice screw to hold the reg whichever way your heart desires...

yes, it is at the bottom and locks with a nutaround the very bottom. its not the easiest to set up but once its set it stays where you put it.

Nope, that nut is the velocity adjustment. AFAIK, there is no way to lock the swivel in place.

i think i would know, i have a sidewinder :eyes:
the 3/16ths (i think) screw in the center of the bottom adjusts velocity. there is a thin, large diameter round nut that goes around the very bottom of the reg just below the little black band that is the swivel ring.
it does rotate and it does lock in place

I didn't know that was the nut you were referring to.

It just compared them. Put in other regs and the CP will look really good. It's just barely worse than the AKA regs (in some aspects). The CP regs look cool and come in cool colors, they are also cheaper.

I just got a CP reg and figured I'd post this question here instead of starting a new thread. It has the integrated fitting on the bottom, is there anyway to get a 90 degree one in there instead? It would reduce the twist on my macroline.

The 2 liter is better, but is it worth the $100+ you pay for it? IMO no.

i would go with a cp. as many of you guys have stated before, the CP is cheaper than the AKA regs. the cp reg is imo more of what you are getting for its value. 60 dollars for a near top-performing regulator or you could buy probably the best regulator out there for over 100. i would go with the cp and use the extra money i saved for other parts.
