Well, I've decided to buy my first marker and this is what I've decided on.

Marker: Spyder Imagine Select
Barrel: 14" J&J Ceramic
Hopper: 12v Revolution or eVolution 2

So, what do you all think? If you have any recommendations over this, then please feel free to share them. I don't want to spend to much money though. Thanks in advance.

Better than what I started out with...spoiled kids these days...;)

The gun will be fine. Spyders are easy to use, reliable, and extremely upgradable.

The barrel is decent too. I've never completely liked J&J Ceramic barrels, but they are still good for the money. I'm not a barrel expert in anyway, though. I do think that 14" is a tad long. I'd get the 12" instead. There are no advantages to a longer barrel.

The hopper you choose should treat you well. Once again, I'm not an expert on loaders either. Someone else who knows more than me can cover that (or just post in the hopper forum).

Get a 12" JJ Ceramic instead. Also go for the 12v Revvy because I dont think a begginner will need an Evo 2, and use the extra cash for a new bolt or something.

Just my 2cents.

I recommend a 12" as well, but as long as it's between 10"-14" it doesn't really matter. I say if you have a source of income, get the Evo2, otherwise get the Revy.

Everything looks pretty good, I would Recommend the Empire Reloader over the Revolution, but you may as well go ahead and get the Evolution if you can afford it. It's not that much more expensive and if you ever decide to upgrade to a faster marker the Evolution will be able to move up with you. The reason I would say the Reloader instead of the Revolution is because the Reloader is sound activated and it has been my experience that it feeds better and has less chops then the Revolution.

I wouldn't get the imagine select. It would be better to get a regualar Imagine and save the $20 or so dollars. Egg on the hopper. The J&J barrel sounds good but also consider the Custom Products 1 piece.

yeah revvy should work for now. get one that can match your marker once you start shooting that fast

Or if you wanted you could buy my old Imagine (first gun too), its green and I would throw in a 32 degrees whisper barrel and if you wanted some c02 tanks, prolly a good price too.

PM me if interested ;)

Not bad since they're fairly upgradable. I usually suggest a M98, but a lot of people (including me) don't like the front grip being so far out. I started out with a classic mag I paid too much for, but it was worth it :).

its not the gun that makes the player. i started out with a spyder and thats fine. i cant congradulate you enough for buying your own gun. it teaches you to appreciate the value of money and makes you care more about your gear. never and i mean never back down from some one with a brand new $1400. the gun dosent make the player. you can beat anyone out there if you outplay them and use skill. now if the person has skill and a good gun. dont always expect to win just try and youll get just as good. good luck

I have to agree, but not a lot of other people will. Over half the people that post on this message board believes that if they get a Shocker, Timmy, E-Cocker, etc. they'll be a better player.

that is true i bought my first gun also it was a spyder xtra and my friend saw that i bought a gun so he asked his parents and his parents bought him a smart parts nerve, Just because he has a better gun then me he thinks he can beat me but i am way better then him, ohh yeh back on topic i would not get the imagine select i would get a regular imagine and save the 20-30$ but for a beginner spyder's are great guns this is my preferance but then again i also own a spyder.

ok well i think you'll agree that the more paint you put in the air and the more consistant it is, the better chance you have of hitting someone

I think you should play with the marker stock before you make your decision to upgrade. Many people are guilty of buying upgrades before you decide if you actually NEED them.

i like ur choice:)

i just sold my imagine so i have a few suggestions for ur imagine.

for the hopper- i went with an eVolution II (eggy2) it will save you money in the long run.

for the marker- the spyder imagine select is a good marker but, id tone it down to a regular imagine

for the barrel- ive never owned one but i tested a 32* quiet riot and whisper. Great bang for the buck.

for the tank- at first just get a nice balanced 16 oz tank, but when you get a bit more serious about the sport, i would buckle down on some compressed air. it may seem expensive now, but trust me its worth it.

have fun!

I beleive that the ability to shoot 7 bps faster than your opponent, if you have the same skill level, will make you the better player.

The thing is that while most people brag about shooting 20bps, they really cant. The average pro shoots 9-11bps at a chrono test at some NPPL tourney.

Good choice. I suggest the egg. Spend the 20$ more or so, you'll thank yourself when you eventually get rid of your revvy. That way you wont chop and youll have no need to get a new hopper ever. And go with the 14in unless you're a frontman. Longer barrels allow you to push the airball bunkers in and snapshoot better. I use 14-16in only. I had used 12inches before (about 4 barrels worth) and I'll never go back.

Honestly you should get a Rodeo it only costs $100 on xpaintball.com, though its a semi-auto it is a very good gun for beginners because its not an air hog and teaches you how to walk the trigger with ease........ It also comes w/ a 12" stock barrel (which is pretty good for a semi-auto) But as an upgrade get a PMI razzor barrel(14") for 10 bucks on xpaintball in the closeout section........ I used to have an Imagine Select and it was alright but you have to clean it 24/7 and the vertical feed always breaks down (not something you want for a beginner) All in all get the Rodeo because you don't have to clean all the time.

Don't spend too much, in case you want to upgrade soon or something. Don't rule out used stuff either, its cheaper, and you can get some higher quality stuff for the same price you would've paid.

yea but the halo is probaly worth more than the gun, he's a begginner, he should go with a richochet or just a stanadard hopper......

An Imagine is a pretty good gun, but I'd recommend a Spyder Rodeo like the other dude said. I have one, and it has worked great for me until I got an electric trigger frame. But it would be fine except the frame was shot many a time the last time I went to a scenario, and it screwed up some circutry.

The J&J barrel is also a pretty good barrel. I have tested them, and have found them to be accurate, easy to clean, and cool looking. But another barrel to look at is the Dye Excel. That was my first barrel, worked great, easy to clean, quiet, and very cool looking on my Rodeo.

Go for an Empire Reloader. They are sound activated, and I find them to be more reliable because it dosen't matter what kind of paint you are using.
