View Full Version : Scratched Lense (?)
I just received my gifts today, and it was a Tippmann 98C and accessories, and a JT Spectra Thermal mask. However, there is what seems to be a smudge/scratch on the lense, directly in the line of sight of the right eye. It doesn't obstruct vision very much at all, but can be annoying, since I'm conscious of it.
Firstly, how can I find out if it's a smudge or a scratch, and what should I use to clean the lense? Second, if it is a scratch, should I request a completely new mask from JT or paintballgear.com?
Thanks for the help in advance, it is appreciated.

Scratches are nothing to sorry about, its the cracks that are the problem. To clean it use water or JT Majik spray stuff, dont use anything else cos it can damage and weaken the lense.
Thanks. I was using it a little this morning, and the vision really is fine. There are no cracks or anything, either.
I did take the entire mask apart last night and put it back together - they really are no fun to put together.

It does get easier as you learn to do it and break in the plastic, try using the end of a JT barrel plug to help.
Make sure you dont leave any paint on the mask over night or for long periods of time cos that can damage the lense as well, all this is in the book.
Yep, I've read it. :D
I just really don't want to take that lense off again. My fingers still hurt. :(
I am thinking that using some warm water on the frame that the lense is inserted into would help in installing and removing the lense.

Na, every time you take the lense out and put it back in, the plastic softens, making it easier. Just get used to it mate.
