I searched for the answer to this and I got mixed opinions from the other threads so I decided to ask TPD but maybe yall will be able to answer before he gets on. Dont know if he is getting on tonight or not.
So for the question - Can I use DOW 55 instead of DOW 33, I have a big tube of it and the paintball shop guy said he thought it was the same except for one was food grade.
So ya someone please tell me so I can clean my gun and lube it correctly :P. Dont want to have to wait a week for DOW 33 if 55 will work now.

I don't know much about lube but I think Dow 55 would be a thicker formula. I wouldn't used it if it is, it'd make you have bad efficientcy and velocity having that drag on the hammer. It'd need more force to puch it forward.
Conclusion: Sell it to a hobo and get some shocker lube.

Suspect, it's actually the other way around. Dow 55 is used (i believe) in Timmy's. It's a little less viscous than Dow 33 which is pretty thick. It's better to just use Dow 33 because of the warranty issue and such, but keep it just in case you get a Timmy or have RC cars, that stuff will work for either one.

I dont think I have a warranty, I bought it used. And if I do have a warranty cant I just wipe it off and act like I never put it on? ......Wish TPD was here, he has all the answers...

No you are not covered by warranty after its changed hands from the original owner. Thanks for clearing that up. I knew it was something along those lines.

dow 55 is o ring sealant, it is very thick and not reccomended on impulse markers. The only thing i reccomend it for is lubing the reg.
use dow 55 on just o-rings (aka in the reg and stuff, maybe on the valve o-rings or any others that you have access to if you happen to take apart your gun). thats what it was made for. for the ram and stuff use 33. personally, i would loose the 55. 33 works fine and you can use it on everything. if you are having leakages and are desperate, put 55 on the seals. other than that just use good old dow 33.

well I prob screwed something up then.....I put 55 on it like it was 33.....oh well I get some 33 either end of this week or next week so Ill redo it then.
I dont think the 55 will be as bad as the Gold Cup Oil I used one time.......oops
Well if it doesnt shoot saturday when I got to use it I guess it will just be my own stupidity. Hopefully the 55 will work for one day.
-Thanks for the input

i doubt you screwed somthing up.
While we're talking about which lubes you can use, can I use some of my friend's Slick Honey?
if its sorta thick like dow it will probably work. but i would look into buying dow 33.
All the answers you'll need!
- Dow 55 is slightly "lighter" lube than Dow 33
- Dow 55 will work on your gun, but use it sparingly (only a little) because it will actually slightly swell your orings (made that way on purpose)
- Jim Drew swears by the stuff when it comes to using a lube in the solenoids of his guns.
- Food grade?! OMG, both Dow 33 and 55 are toxic / hazardous items!
- you can use ANY synthetic oil/lube/grease in your Impulse without damaging it.
- Please don't use slick honey. It's made for bicycle chains. It will swell your orings
- Don't use any petroleum based lube
- Slick Honey is petroleum based
- White Lithium grease will also swell your o-rings (tried that one myself)
- If you are going to use any warranty voiding lube, I recomend one of the two following....
1 - both a super light layer of Dow 33 and PMI/KC gun oil (blue colored stuff) at the same time. Stays put well thanks to the Dow and isn't quite so sticky thanks to the PMI oil.
2 - RC car Shock lube (100% Silicone)
wait is slick honey made for paintball? ok number one rule, dont use lube that is not made for paintball. number 2 rule, no petrolium based lube. 3rd rule, with most high end guns you need a thick lube, lot a watery oily lube like you use in spyders.

I use slick honey no problem. Ive also used lithium grease with no problem. Never used dow.
then you are simply lucky.
I've used Lithium and had to change every oring in my gun that touched the stuff.
I've seen what slick honey does to some shockers. Had to replace EVERY sing bolt assembly oring on both shockers.
