My friend is buying a Tipp Custom 98, he says he wants to be a sniper, so he is buying the flatline barrel, but when we play speedball he wouldnt be able to do as good. I told him to get the Custom 98 RT, I told him it would work out alot better than a flatline, an he could also get a better barrel. What should he do, and how should I convince him to spend his $222 better?

More with the snipers... but thats a different story. Your friend has to understand the flatline. It will always have its drawbacks, ALWAYS, which include limited ROF, larger gun profile, and other slight interferences on the gun. The flatline's benefits are only good if you know how to use them. Don't get me wrong, I love the flatline, its my primary barrel for woodsball. But I'd recommend a 32 degrees or JJ barrel for the price. Get a cheap 12" barrel, then get a flatline. Save the RT until after you have another barrel and nitro.

The thing is, he is already on our team and he is selling his sheridan and wanting to jump right back into action. I'm just trying to find a better alternative, because we play boh speedball and woodsball, and i heard thr flatline sucks for close range. Is there an intermidiate? something good for both sides speedball and woodsball?

I think 14" barrels have the same general range, as with 12", 10", etc. Tell him to get a good 14" barrel. I'm not going to discuss them here, visit the barrel thread or the barrel forum.

Today was the first time I shot a Custom 98, and I liked it alot, the trigger pull is weird, its not too far or too close, are they supposed to be really loud with the stock barrel??? All I know is it hurts to get shot by one.

Tell him to ask around I wanted the flatline too but everyone was telling me what a pain in the but it was. If you break ball you have to practically take the whole thing apart unless you have a special squeegee, if you install it wrong which is very common it won't shoot right. I really just wanted it for looks but I am going for quality now.
