View Full Version : Default Velocity (?)
What is the default velocity of a Model 98 Custom, and will it change much. Also, if I was to tune the velocity, would one turn be more than enough?

Don't mess with it unless you have a chrono once its adjusted. My velocity was good when the gun came, right around 320-330 fps, the way I like it. (Just kidding, it was around 270-280. I was surprised when I brought it to the chrono)
I see. I suppose that if it was too high, balls would break before they left the gun, and if it was too low, I would notice balls dropping off. Is that a correct assumption?
Also, can I change the velocity and set it according to how the gun shoots, without a chrono, that is?

That's pretty much a correct assumption, but in order for the balls to break in an M98 at high velocity, it'd have to be around 350 or more. Uhhhh, what was your other question.......oh yeah, I don't own a chrony, so on the rare occasion that I play outlaw paintball in the woods, we just set up something on a tree and see how fast it hits it with a stopwatch. You can pretty much watch to see how fast the paint is shooting. I don't recommend playing outlaw paintball without a chrony though, so don't try to hold me liable! ;) The velocity on my 98 Custom out of the box was about 270, so I was okay.
Thanks a lot. :)
We will do that, some friends and I, test the velocities and ensure we are all relatively close to 260 - 280fps.
The most I've changed my velocity was one turn to the left, at which point the Great American balls broke in my Dye Aluminum, and then one turn back to the right, where the balls were flying through. Still not a good paint/barrel match.
Thanks again, you were extremely helpful.

I dont have a Crono and when you take your gun apart it has to be set all the way in, any recomendations on how to get it back to normal?
