The gauge on your tank should just tell you how much pressure is in your tank, the gauge on the marker is telling you how much pressure is being put into it, so they would both read the same.
So, Yes, it would be a waste of money.
Someone correct me if I am wrong, since I have never seem a CO2 tank with a gauge.

The guage on the reg is telling you the output pressure. That is useful. One on your CO2 tank is not because CO2 outputs the same pressure until you have about 5 shots left. Therefore it is a waste of money.

The adaprter for the tank can tell you how much air you have left and it is useful because this could make a difference by either shooting the paintballs or throwing them. the gauge on your gun is telling you how much air pressure their is that the gun has available. being if their is no tank on it will read 0 psi and if their is a tank on it will tell how much air pressure their is, so if you would like the luxury of knowing how much air their is in your tank then get it but honestly i would just save the money for upgrades on your gun or a better system such as a nitro tank.

Not co2. Co2 is measured by weight not pressure, making a guage on the tank read the same as the one on the reg.
