Alright, my local field is having a problem. Before we get started lets get you guys used to some terms. There is a local shop up here in redding and the name is Diamond's Edge, and so they own an airball field up here at the local fairgrounds, well apparently someone donated property to them, and they are calling this new space the Diamond Mine. At the Diamond Mine they are going to build a hyperball field, X-ball field, and a Scenario course. Well the problem is that some old lady lives next to the diamond mine or rather where it is going to be, and they were setting up for this new hyperball field and the lady went out and found out what was going on and got all ****ing pissed about it. So right now she started a petition to prevent this new field to be built. And the petition is now delaying the building of the Diamond Mine. She's complaining that there will be too much noise for her to handle, but the fields will only be open on the weekends from 10am-3pm, just like the airball field. So tomorrow it's going to city officials and my mom is going down there on the behalf of Diamond's Edge and hopefully they overrule this persons petition. At the field we have a paper saying why we go to this field than anywhere else and why we think the staff is better. They also got a person at the fairgrounds saying there have been ZERO complaints about noise or anything like that.
What do you guys think about it? Any advicce will be helpful.
EDIT: Found this link that has the agenda of what is going to happen tomorrow:http://www.shastadistrictfair.com/sd f a g enda/default.htm(no space[swear filter])
It says that shes also petitioning to have the airball field closed. near the beginning, no need to read all of it.

do an experiment on how far a paintball can be no virtually make no sound at all. Prove it.
If it works, walla, you've just made friends with the owner.
If it doesn't, there's always the future.

She's right to say that there is going to be lots of noise. Even though, the field opens and closes at 10am to 3 pm, she won't get her nap or anything. She probably wants peace and quiet. In addition, I bet you that paintball reminds her of something she doesn't want to remember. She was there through the Vietnam War and Korean War.
You're mom is going to fight against the petition?!! You are mad lucky. Your mom is ill. If this was my mom, she would say paintball is a waste of life and go read a book.

well ur gonna have to wait no matter what. if they say u can build it good. but if it violates city code or something like that then ur in trouble. see what the officials say and then go off that. I dont think u will be able to change their mind either, they are gonna stick with the laws u have now

My mom just called and told me that she had the worst arguement in existence and it was unanimous for diamonds edge to stay.

See, sometimes playing by the rules does work in life.
And sometimes old embittered people lose. Doesn't happen often so enjoy it.
BUT....
Word of advice. Talk to the field owners and have them keep that place on the tightest of leashes. Kids shooting markers in the parking lot, hanging out after hours, screeching their tires as they leave, blasting radios, ... (you get then picture)
WILL give her a legitimate reason to complain, and a legitimate reason for the place to be closed.

Yes that is true. But trust me on this (a friend is battling with his neighbors that the closest one is 1/2 mile away) Noise pollution, and speeding cars is not something they want to face before a Town Meeting. They will lose.

yeah, thats a good point.
also, having worked at a field where neighbors hated us (a whole damn trailer park!) it is not fun when they come knock down fields/shoot stuff/ break stuff. definately better to have accepting neighbors
