Both, if you play tourneys it's more sport based, if you only do it occasionaly, its a hobby.

Wow. Am I really the only person on here that plays as a hobby?
Not that I'm belittling paintball in any way. I also play billiards and golf as hobbies. Just got to have something to do.

Its both.
you said golf. Pro Golf is a sport but the golf you play is a hobby.
Organized Paintball Tournaments with prizes and teams and stuff is a Sport but if you get together with your friends and say "Hey! Lets play tomorrow!" then its a hobby

I'd have to agree with everyoen else... It is both... My friends and I are making a team to play in tournaments, so, in a way, we are making it into a sport that we all play, but we also have "practice" sessions, which is when we play as a hobby... but, a very EXPENSIVE hobby...

i'll say sport. "hobby" implies (to me anyway) inactivity- stamo collecting, model building.
There is a way to look at it as both- a sport when you are acually playing, and a hobby when you are at home, upgrading, repairing, or tweaking your equipment ( and looking at the forums)
