closed bolts are more accurate and found on cockers
open bolts are on spyders peeeeranas and other blowback guns

that is not really true. in warpigs test they didnt find that closed/opend bolt had an effect on accuracy. but yes cockers are closed bolt, closed bolt is when the gun fires when the bolt is forward and not moving. open bolt, the bolt is moves forward and shoots the ball. bushies, imps, spyders (blowbacks) are open bolt markers. . .

This is my opinion.

Closed Bolt #1 Autococker
#2 Automag RT

Open Bolt #1 Tippmann
#2 Spyder

I'll see your autococker and raise you 1

Closed Bolt #1 Shocker!

Then I'll see your Tippmann and raise you 1

Open Bolt #1 Impulse!

Ak47, Is this for you? If you're looking for yourself or a friend I recommend that you try it before you buy it! Paintball markers are like gloves, Ya almost gotta try them on and see how they fit your hand.

Automags are open bolt. They are blow forwards as opposed to spyders and tippmans which are open bolt blow backs. Automags use air to push the bolt closed, and the main spring to return it to the open position where as open bolt blow backs use the main spring to close the bolt while firing and use air to push the bolts back to the open position.

I'll see that and raise you my Sovereign. It routinely outshoots every other gun on the field.

Course, it cost more then my computer....

Both of my guns cost more than my computer. I'm a CS major too. I also pride myself on having one of the best computers possible. Technology is just too cheap now... Of course, If I had actually paid for my GeForce3 then the computer would have been more than my mag w/o the tank, but still less than my cocker.

Perhaps I should have specified... It cost more then my computer, which is (or was 3 months ago) a top of the line laptop.

And that's the gun without the tank...

I realy need a cheaper hobby... :D

Ok, I take that back... I just added everything up.

1 ghz AMD T-bird
DFI AK74EC MB
384M of RAM
Tower, power supply

Bought all of that last february for ~$300

TDK VeloCD CD-RW was about 200 (x-mas present last year though)

GeForce3 was free. Normally about 350 - 400

SoundBlaster Gold $100
Altec Lansing ACS56 about $120 at the time.

Misc. crap. ~$30

I paid $550, but adding the costs at the time everything was acquired it would be about $1100 to 1150. Now it would be about 800.

My mag:
micromag RT - $600
Tank - $250
D/F, revvy, barrel ~$125
Total - $975

My cocker:
Marker ~$850
Tank ~$350
Misc. crap ~$150
Total - $1350

I still payed less for my computer than my paintball stuff, but it was worth more new than either marker. Of course, I doubt I would have gotten a GeForce3 if I didn't get one free or cheap.

My laptop :
Gateway 9550, loaded the way I wanted it - $2,000

My gun :
Serries 1 Centerfeed Sovereign, totaly customized by Danny Love - ~$1900. Second barrel (I like a shorter barrel for indoor, and a longer one for outdoor) brought it over the $2k mark.

Course, that's what happens when you give him total artistic license.

Oh, and nice choice of processors (my desktop uses the 950Tbird)

Who cares, its a damn computer which can often make people very fustrated and lazy. Being a Computer nerd is a bad hobby to get into. luckily, I never made this horrible mistake. :biglaugh:

Hahaha... Yep, that bad hobby earns people like me 70k+ out of college on average... Hopefully my list of qualifications will get me double. The only thing I miss about being a computer nerd is a life and exercise... wait, I play paintball... now all I need is a life. Ah, who am I kidding? I'll just do it the same way most computer nerds do it. Buy a life when I leave college.

Rent one. It's cheaper in the long run.
