Why does Tippmann say the effective range for the SL-68II is 200ft. Also, when I was reading the reviews on this gun here at pbreview.com, I noticed that about 3/4 of the reviews said that it has awesome range. Is this true?

tippmann likes to bs sometimes. kinda like the thing with a 98 and the 9oz tank getting like 500 shots (that it?)

Yes the marker has great range. It's effective range is about 200 ft if you are using good paint and a decent barrel. Tippmanns sniper barrel works great. If your looking for a pump then get a SL or a Phantom.

I just want to clarify: You will have to long ball it for a 200 foot range, with very low winds, or in a inside field. But with a accurate barrel and decent paint the ball should drop where you want it to. So actually since you will have to long ball it, it's effective range isnt really 200 ft.

200ft easy with this gun on 315(max) fps. The shot isn't dead-on accurate to 200ft but if you aim up and learn to arc you shot, you'll have 200ft easy. With the any barrel you can arc to 200ft, but accurate range with stock is 60 ft, sniper barrel is 75ft.
*Accurate is defined as within 3inches of where you aim
*to Arc is to slightly elevate the end of the barrel, not to jack it up like a mortar.
