I belive that members should have a say in who mods and whats what...I think we should beable to vote in mods....Andrew is there a way you could make it so it is more democratical(SP)?
Who else thinks this is a good idea...and do you have anyother ideas!
Well Incube, aren't you quite the little revolutionist?
Truth is Incube, there is already a great deal of "democratic freedom" given to pbreview users. For instance, you have the right to contact me if you have a problem with a Mod, and expect full confidentiality. You also have the right to ask a Mod questions. You also have the right to earn being a Mod, ie be a good helpfull user.
However, you also have the right to remain silent. It seems most pbreview users use this right most frequently... some post things complaining about mods or other users, even e-mailing me, but don't provide any evidence supporting their claims. This leads me to believe that if there were to be a vote, most wouldn't even bother. As such, top-level decisions remain just that. If you want top-level, you have to earn it. This means acting above and beyond the rules.

i dont know if there is any truth to what a little birdy told me butt:
supposedly the mods vote on who gets, to be a mod, but somebody broke the rule and just appointed a mod that they liked/ friends with. without the other mods voting on it.
sounds like a little corruption in the forum.
True?

That is not true as I know it PB, To become a mod you must demonstrate characteristic that prove you can accomplish the activities a moderator will be expected to perform. Being a friend doesn't entitle you to anything I've got several neighbors that are friends that post here. That doesn't mean they deserve to become mods. Incube will tell ya he's my son! Do ya think I'd say make him a mod I'm his Dod! Heck No! If I were his Dad I'd have to be Mad! All the mods here have proven themselves to be worthly (helpful, friendly, giving, kind, willing to go the extra mile) of the tasks, months before they were even considered to be moderator candidates! And there is a voting process that all the mods as well as Andrew Flash & Muck are involved with! So as for your little birdy. He is off base it don't work like that!

I again want to point out "as I know it" I would never knowingly lie to you, it would blow my creditability with everone! This voting process is done in the form of a thread, if you don't go to it, and read it, and post in it, well I guess then you could claim you didn't have any say. Remember, any system only works if you use it.
I wouldn't have a problem with a "Thank You Thread". This could be a public shown letter of appreciation for services done by one or more members of PBR. In turn the mods could use these (after a little research) as letters of recommendation for possible moderator candidates and or positions.
I think I know what you're talking about Paintbulley. I did appoint a mod just recently because he was a PERFECT fit for the job. I had talked to Andrew and Killler Kat, and they thought it was a great idea. So far I have absolutely ZERO regrets.
If this makes me a despot or dictator bent on pbreview domination, wielding my ceptre of corruption.... well, I really didn't think it was a big deal. Then again, this is the first I've heard of this...it seems these birds sit in the shadows without bothering to talk to me about it. Interesting though, I thought moderator matters stayed in the moderator forum.

Yeah Kats right, we vote. We don't necessarily make a yes or no poll for the person or have an "Official Moderator Meeting" or anything formal like that, but we discuss possible new mods in a thread as a group and decide from that. Pretty simple stuff really.

Yeah sure we mention you all the time Incube, but it's more along the lines of a "whats he done this time?" kind of discussion.
