View Full Version : Keep my Impulse or sell it?

I know this forum has seen hundreds of these threads, but I don't see any on the first 3 pages that are specifically about the Impulse and\or the other guns I'm thinking about so I figured I'd make this one.

Should I keep my marker the way it is now, and upgrade it within the next 4-5 months with the following stuff:

WAS Equalizer Board (possibly, if I have a yardsale and make $150)

NDZ Lo-Rize Clamping Feedneck

Shocktech Supafly bolt (most likely, because that's what my shop has and I don't really feel like ordering something and waiting a week for it to come in plus pay sales tax and shipping on a bolt that I could get on the 'Net w\ no sales tax and $10 cheaper at least)

Custom Products 16" 1-piece Classic .689 bore barrel

CIP Unimount?

Hybrid CK grips

Tapeworm

LPR

Some other NDZ parts\internals possibly

This is just an idea, seeing as I don't want to WAIT 4-5 months to get $300 to put into a Shocker or wait until like October and save up the $750-$800 more I'd need to buy a Karnivor.

Shocker w\ Vision

Karnivor w\ E1 (No E2'd Karnis for me, I'm broker than broke right now)

'05 Speed

Proto Trix

I don't play in tourneys, but I practice with a tourney team. I can't stand the thought of playing only woodsball because I want to play PSP etc. but I have no job, my Mom's a teacher so she can't really help me out much with playing costs and all, I can't play 4x a month at 50 bucks a pop, that's $200 that I don't have and she could probably spare but it could be spent on better things than me playing paintball.

I would appreciate it if people who are having a similar debate or don't have much money at the time and probably won't have much or any for the next couple of months to a year would reply here, or people that have been in my shoes and figured out how to walk the mile, figuratively.

Thanks,
Bobby

honestly i'd sell the imp and get the proto. there puttin imps out of production and pretty soon ppl will stop making upgrades. then no one will be able to work on it and u will be stuck with it.

go for the proto or the 05 with a 45* frame imo, with the trix u get basically the same performance as a dm5 with a few less frills. the angel is a good gun too, but i don't have too much experience there. all in all go for the trix:tup:

on a side note does anyone know if dm4/dm5/proto trix bolts are all the same size? if not does anyone make AM proto bolts? thx.

I'd get rid of the Imp as soon as possible, their already bad resale is going to go nowhere but down.

If you don't want to wait, maybe you should consider a used Shocker, Trix, or possibly even an ION.

That's what I'm thinking but I don't want to take like $250 for the gun and maybe $300 for the gun & loader, I would be without a marker for at least 6 months.:(

BTW STO Balla 22, do you have Xbox LIVE?

Nope, I have a PS2.

Anyway, try to sell the Imp, get as much out of it as you can, and buy an ION. That way you'd have a newer, smaller, lighter, and faster marker with eyes without spending too much money, if any.

I'll wait for the reviews for 2-3 weeks to come in though before I buy one.

My friend just offered to take my gun for a week and he said he'd have it sold... However I'm not REALLY sure I can trust him with my stuff he might take the internals and put in ****ty ones and give it back or something...

If it aint broke dont fix it.

Keep your imp unless you think its holding you back or dotn like it anymore. They ar beautiful guns and regardless of what anyone says. They do rip and are a top notch gun.

Are you unhappy with your Imp? If not then why sell it? But if you are unhappy with it then I guess you should look into something else. Don't sell it just because it's being discontinued and everyone else is getting rid of theirs. Only sell it if you are not satisfied.

As far as money and stuff goes, I know how you feel. I was in your shoes three months ago. I got a job two months ago and my income multiplied by like 5x so I can play much more than I used to. Three months ago if you told me I would be in the position I'm in now I would not have believed it. Situations change and opportunitys will come. I'm sure you will be able to find some work soon if you are really looking.

Edited for spelling.

I have mixed emotions about it. It's my first high-end gun that worked the way it was supposed to WHEN I GOT IT (remember the '99 RF? I hated it, it never worked) so I'm kind of attached to it in a way.

Then again, it IS only a material thing. I say keep it for now.
