if you get the V-link then you can download the 15bps ramping firmware for it. Otherwise no, it doesnt ramp.

Ramping is something that newbs do to shoot fast. And really, it is dangerous, think about it 13 BPS in 3 seconds, they bunker someone they get nailed 10-13 times in the back, trust me. Ive seen it.

I take offense that post bro.. my trix ramps and i've been playing for 8 years.. not quite a newb. At tournaments, speed is all a backplayer has. I'd rather have a string of 21 going then a string of 16 if for other reason then to post on a front man and keep him from pulling a bs run through. And as far as the bunkering comment.. common..honestly, how many ramping boards have you seen that that ramp 13 bps on one trigger pull? Only full auto boards do and people shouldn't be playing with those period.

what exactly is ramping? and is it good or bad?

in a nutshell, it's a process that happens within your gun that makes it cycle faster then you're actually pulling.
debounce for example causes the return of your trigger, after a trigger pull, to initiate a new firing sequence. It's accomplished by making the board more sensitive to pulls.
Some boards have true ramping software programmed in. Which basically increases the cycles once a certain rate is achieved. For example, when you hit 10 balls per second on your pulls, it "ramps" up to actually fire 13 balls per second.
That's the basics, there's more that goes into it but you get the picture.
hope that helped

And really, it is dangerous, think about it 13 BPS in 3 seconds, they bunker someone they get nailed 10-13 times in the back, trust me. Ive seen it. when you bunker someone, do you really stand there aiming at them for 3 seconds? more like half a second, I think. And consider that not all of those will hit. I'm not saying its not possible for ppl to get bonus balled because of ramping boards, im just saying when you get bunkered by someone with a ramping gun its not like you're gonna get hit 13 times. The chances of that happening are extremely low (although it certainly does happen).
i would never play with ramping just on the weekend with recballers or anything like that. But if I'm in a tourny and everyone else is ramping I might as well do it too. I didnt like ramping back when it was illegal, but now it's legal it's too big a part of the game to ignore.
anyway if you play PSP or CFOA, vaporworks now has the 15bps firmare available so you can use that.

not that i'd want to ramp to hurt people, but just like lotus said, if i'm in a tourny i would want it to keep up with the rest, especially if i'm sporting a bko goin against timmies and trixies lol, but anyways, i was juts curious if a chaos could

Lets go on about my last time at the field playing rec....me with my bushy playn' snake (indor 5 man), and im 1 of 2 left on my team. its 4 on 2, and i made my way up the snake picking off the noobs on the other team without to much trouble. i even up the teams 2-2 wuick ennough. there is me and a guy with a ego that bounced nicely playing back. he threw paint for cover nand i started a slow....well basicly a walk down lol. i lit up a Novice tourney baller who had a really nice ramping dm5. (i shot it previously   ). Now i put a string of balls, 10 or so not to fast and a good 5 broke on this guys shoulder obvious marks. looks like a bunch of cartoons sneezed on his arm. you could see this from across field. he stood up like he was going to walk off the field and turns around and just throws a lot off paint at me and im in the open at his angle. Ramping is not cool when your basicly a sitting duck....i got hit a good 20 times not fun. i started shooting at him and lit mask up and proceded to be pissed.
This is why im against rec ball ramping. but in tourneys and team practices against Div 1 xball team....ramping is nice...very nice...in fact i want it right now.
Right now im waiting on a hydro for my tank and then im probably getting a chaos and vlink so i can ramp. and also an old laptop so i can reflash at the field. haha....nice eh?

sounds like what happened to me in october at a local young guns tourney
we was up against a bunch of rich kids who's parents bought them all their stuff, it was down to 2-2, the ref was paintchecking me, the paintchecks were neutral, i look over and i see an opponet grabbing the flag off of the string, i shoot with my piranha and clearly hit him right in the middle of the chest, another ref calls him out, then the ref paintchecking me calls me out because of a pack hit, i raise my hand a start walking off the field, all of the sudden the kid i just took out unloads his Nerve on me and hits me 7 times and hits the ref another 4-5 times, the kid obviously was ramping badly and could have really hurt someone if he shot someone close range

im with super, ramping is seriusly for losers. I dont understand why u cant just play by the rules. i mean lets say you play compettive monopoly (lol), and people steal money or cheat... its the same concept and if you have to cheat to win, then you are a loser

i will never use ramping either. it is just like cheating.
lotus_esprit5

^but its not cheating anymore.
Last season I was totally against it because it was an unfair advantage. I never would have done it in 2004.
But now that it's legal (up to 15bps and all that) in alot of tournies in the 2005 season, I dont mind if ppl use it for those tournies. Its part of the game now. Its as much a part of the game now as snap-shooting. I dont see it as cheating at all this season, because it isnt. I would rather have everyone just use semi-auto, but after seeing all the problems that occured in 2004 with illegal ramping I dont think thats possible anymore.
but if you arent playing in a tourny or a team practice then you shouldnt be ramping under any circumstance. No way should anyone be ramping against recballers, thats horrible and someone very well could get hurt. If I see someone ramping on a recball field I give them a couple extra bonus balls for it just to even things up.

I still wont ramp.
I think its degrading to the sport.

Listen....I know what it will take to change your opinion getting your butt pwned by some ppl with ramping boards and beleive me its hard to run through a string of 15bps...I personaly saw that ramping and wiping were cheating....but now i see ramping as somewhat ok and wiping what makes a good team better. I still dont wipe, but i know how. What any great team and tell me they dont wipe once. Slideing bunker rub....and flat out wipes its all done by many of the good teams....watch and youll see.
I try not to wipe but i have used ye old "bunker rub" technique.....not proud but i have done it b4.
I see where your comming from with your opinions on against ramping and such, i still think the xball ramping is messed up. Keep up the fight....heck i was planning on buying a pump until i was offered a trade and i would get a chaos....im probably going to take it and get a vlink. I have fallen to ramping....sigh

Ive never been hit by anyone who ramps.
I dont think its a horrible think if you ramp, I just belive it takes skill out of the sport.

the saddest part is, is that people think their so bad that they can't hit people with 15 bps and have to ramp to 20 bps, that's sad if you can't hit someone with 15 balls in the air in one second:|
DagNasty
03-02-2005, 04:25 PM
What's sad is discrediting people who use ramping guns as not having skill.. either you do what you have to in order to stay on top of your game or you fall behind and risk losing sponsorship.
If it's legal in a tournament to use ramping software, then why not use it? If it's not legal then people shouldn't use it. That's the bottom line.

Im not dicrediting people for ramping. Its not their fault. i just hope it dosent become mainstream like it seems it will be.
its just that now any newb can shoot as fast as me if he has a ramping board, he dosent need the experince to shoot that fast anymore.
And other stuff i would like to bring up put i cant find the link to the page where WAS rants about x-ball ramping.

it's already maintstream, just depends on where you play. It's filtering out the smaller more remote locations as people sell their guns via websites and ebay.
There was a time when ramping guns were just in the hands of a select few and nobody complained, because the people who had 'em, played against others who had 'em. Now because people at local fields playing rec ball are using them, they're becoming an issue.
