Just to let you know, barrel length doesnt matter. My friend had a 98 with progressive. It shoot great. He only sold it to buy a cocker. Get a reactive trigger if you can. ITs great.

I'd choose the Tippmann. Why?
-The 98 custom is way more rugged and durable than a xtra.
-The 98c has a better, shorter, smoother pull than the xtra
-I don't like vertical feeds like the xtra has
- I lower profile guns like the 98c rather than a bright flashy gun like the xtra. ( Wait, maybe if you angled the xtra in the sun right you could blind the opposing players!)
-The 98c has a better ergonomic feel to it compared to the xtra.

My setup:
-98 custom
-Smart Parts progressive
-Thunderpig tactical drop forward
-PB double trigger
-GTA X-chamber
-12 volt revvy

I'd go for the tippy, read reasons listed in above review, that about covers it.

I don't like the feel of the tippmann so I would go with the spyder. I have an Xtra and it has been great. No problems and only 3 ball breaks in a year. Shoot them both and see what one feels better.
