View Full Version : Why do people do this?!

Many people call paintball markers "guns" and call tagging an opponent a "kill." I think this hurts the image of paintball and many people should use the proper terminology.
What if some newbie is talking about a recent game to one of his friends at school and a teacher walks by and hears an earful of "killings" and "guns"? There's been enough idiots doing bad things with paintball markers and in order to improve the reputation of the sport, we all must remember to use the proper words and protection.

I'm ambidextrous on the Marker/Gun thing, but I never refer to hitting someone as a Kill ... I use Nailed, Tagged, Hit, Splattered.

Let me add, that I don't say I killed him today. I just say I got 5 kills that day or something like that. I never point at someone and say, " I killed him today. "

personally, I think anyone who sees a "marker" knows it's a gun ... the main thing is how you portray the "Sport" of paintball to other people. It's not 90 percent of the paintball playing population that gives the sport a bad name or rep, it's the 10 percent who freeze paintballs, shoot houses, do drive bys, and other stupid shizit that give it a bad rep, that attracts negative media attention and puts the rest of us in jeopardy.
