Ok, I have an 03 Vision Imp with Tapeworm and horizontal max-flow and my marker is chronoing around + or - 10 to 15. I just cleaned and rebuilt the max flow and that didn't help the problem, is the max flow shot or is there something else that could cause this sort of fluctuation?

I had the same problem a while ago. I completely rebuilt my maxflo with no luck. What ended up fixing it was messing with my input pressure and dwell settings...

1. Are you using Compressed air?
if so,
2.is your dwell set correctly? to set at normal, there are two little buttons on the right side of the gun. hold the left one down until you hear a chirp. then hit the right button 12 times.
if you are using c02...
that's the problem. c02 is very inconsistent.
you rebuilt your maxi over 10/15 fps? man you ppl are picky. i mean i would be concerned but i wouldnt rebuilt my maxi. hmm, if you rebuilt your maxi and are still having problems try cleaning out your ram assmebly and then lightly regreasing it. how old is your tank? if it is an old tank maybe the reg is old and worn.

I'm using compressed air on a 4 year old nitroduck 68/3000 preset to 850. I guess I'll play with the dwell setting next weekend and see if that helps and try a different tank. If anyone else can think of anything else short of buying a new reg I'm game to try that also.
Ikey, if you think rebuilding the max flow was bad you haven't seen anything yet. If I can't get it down to + or - 5 then I'm selling it. I've been looking for an excuse to upgrade and this may be it. My stock M98 is + or - 10 also, and that's with no reg at all. In order to ensure I don't get a hot gun penalty I have to play with my Impy set to 280 which just annoys me. These consistency issues coupled with the fact the market value of Imps is dropping day by day is really getting under my skin.

get a new reg. this will offer more consistansy than the max-flo's that it comes with. a couple of good regs are:
*Macdev Gladiator
*AKA 2-Liter
*AKA Sidewinder
*DYE Hyper In Line
*and the Custom Products reg.
all this will help to contribute to your velocity fluctuation problem. these WILL give you more consistansy and other neat stuff will customizing your gun and making it look sweet at the same time!
Ahhh!?!?!?!?
(those were screams of joy)

The problem probably isn't the maxflo-they're great regs, and if cleaned every once and a while, they will last for years (with new seal every once and a while too).

While nitro ducks will pretty much never die, the fluxuation might be the tank's reg, being 4 years old as you said.
First though, since this would be free, try cleaning out the entire ram assembly (yes, taking the ram out to clean it), and resetting your dwell and input. Try an input of about 150psi, and what ever dwell will allow you to shoot 290fps.
As far as new regs go, buy some sort of centerflag screw in reg (401 series rock) from AVI-they're cheap, and pretty much the best there is.
Good luck.
dont buy the hyper inline. they are 100 bucks. i mnea coming stock on a dm4 thats really good but for 100 you an get a AKA 2 leiter which is probably the best reg on teh markey right now without question. you want the best consistancy it will give it to you. but then again is your tanks reg is messed or something that might be causing it.

Allright, I'll clean the ram assembly and I'll be using a 4 month old Crossfire 70/4500 this weekend and try setting the reg down and adjusting the dwell. Thanks for all the help.
