hello
I have an a-5 offered to me with r/t and flatline and I was wondering if the r/t works well with the flatline. I play tourney's and i don't think that u can use r/t in tourney play. I was considering buying an e-grip.

What are you using now? Tell us and we'll tell you whether or not you're moving in the proper direction.
Without hearing what you have I can say this:
RT is going to be illegal in 99% of tourneys, ask the tournament organizer just in case, but always assume that it's going to be illegal.
The Flatline is not a good barrel for tourney use, you generally don't need extra range, or flat trajectory. Furthermore, when you are snap shooting it's hard to keep the marker straight up and down, which you need to do to have an sembelence of accuracy.

Which means at least a trace of. Caught 2 there Coenen ;).
As usual, Mr. Coenen is correct. The R/T with Flatline Barrel is known as the classic "newb/nub/noob" setup. Not to say that's a bad thing but it's primarily used for Rec Ball.
If you were to buy an A-5 and E-grip there are other markers you could buy that would be better. A-5 + E-grip = $340 not including an air source. You could choose to buy another gun, say the SP Ion in this instance but you'd also have to buy a hopper that could keep up to the speeds, similarly to a BKO or like marker.
If you were to put on a standard barrel removing the flatline, then swap an E-grip on there you'd be taking off around $170 of upgrades, and paying about the same to "upgrade" it again. It's really up to you if you think it's worth it.

ok well the the thing is that the guy is offering me this a-5, flatline, r/t, ghillie suit and 20oz for 125. I know the gun is good because i have tested it and he is one of my friends. I was thinking i should just sell the r/t when i get it and buy an e-grip. Is the flatline accurate for speedball? I don't want to sell it because I play woodsball and i am now doing trny's. Are you saying that the a-5 would not be good at all for trny's? If i get an e-grip, will balls break alot? I heard that the flatline is a pain to clean.

All that for $125? BUY IT.
Keep the flatline for woodsball.
Sell the RT and probably the ghillie suit and buy an egrip with JCS dual trigger and a new barrel like a lapco bigshot or cp 1 piece or jand j ceramic.
Balls will not break a lot with the egrip. Yes the flatline is a pain to clean in the field, but with the right paint, you will rarely break paint in it.
You will have an awesome woodsball setup and a servicable tourney setup for cheap.

the zap will work awsome in the J&J (i use the barrel and paint just b/c im cheap) the J&J is awsome. it's super light, quiet, accurate(with right paint, which is just about anything) and inexpensive(between 30 and 45 bucks)

but will the zap work well in the flatline? I plan on using the flatline in tourney play. I just want to know if it is feasable.

no u need high quality paint for the flatty, like marbs. if u use the zaps it won't work well.

has anyone tried zap rec series in a flatline?

Trust them zaps won't work at all. The flatline needs to be fed small paintballs with little to no seams. Marbs and evils are the best. I wouldn't recomend that gun for tourney play although I have never tried one in tourney. I have an a5 with a flatline/rt/double trigger/pro-team stock for woods ball. For tourneys I have a Cocker. The reasons I wouldn't recomend the flatline for tourney play is when you lean around bunkers it will give the ball a wicked curve. Which in some cases is good because you will be able to shoot around corners. For $125 why wouldn't you buy it??? The gun alone with a r/t is around $300+. Hell whats your friends name I take it! better hurry up before someone else gets it.
P.S thanks for calling my A5 a noob gun. Just kidding, it's purely rec.

Ya I was insulted at the flatline/rt/newbe implication as well, but I dont care, I am looking forward to my A5/flatline/RT/other ups combo. I guess I am still a newbie after a year of playing.

SUPER good deal depending on the condition but if you get it DITCH THE 20 ONZ as soon as possible. co2 + rt+ flatline= more flatline help threads for me to deal with. get comp air for the flatline at +6 bps fire, no questions asked just believe me. otherwise it is a relay good woods setup but not for tourney. keep it on the gun rack for days when you just want to blow stuff away and milsim and scenario

I am buying the gun and sellling the r/t for an e-grip. Is it too hard to make a quick change flatline system? If so I don't really know what barrel to with, don't worry not gonna clog up another forum with useless barrel decisions.

The flatline doesn't take all that long to uninstall. installation takes a bit longer with collaboration and what not, but its always best to have an extra barrel like a cp 1 peice or a j&j just in case the flatline acts up

Get the thumb screws to be able to quickly and with no tools change barrels on the A5. Ive seen a few places that sell them online. You should be able to change barrels in the middle of a rec game, if you break a ball or something. You should expect your velocity to go up with a different barrel because of the large bore of the flatline. Youll have to experiment to find out how much.

what do u mean it takes a bit longer with colaboration?

He means calibration. He's refering to having to make sure the barrel is on straight, velocity is correct, etc. Ive talked to him a lot.

is the e-grip legal in tourney's (on certain modes)? Has anyone ever tried zap paint in a flatline?
Greedy

E-Grip is tourny legal ONLY in Semi Mode.
As for your paint question, that belongs in the Barrels and Paint forum, not here.

Egrip only legal in semi( altough my feild lets us use turbo to keep up with the spaceguns)
the zap will not work properly in the flatline. u need high quality paint for it to work properly, like marbs, thats all i used in mine when i had one.

sorry about the whole paint question. how far is the trigger pull apoximatly on the e-grip?

With a jcs dual trigger you can adjust it to walkable length from what I have heard. With the stock, I dont know.

The trigger that comes with the e-grip isn't much different than the stock trigger. The jcs duel trigger is a must, especially if you're playing tournies.
