hey im just starting to get into pb and today when i was playing my friend was telling me to calm down and he said i was jittery and moving super fast....could this be a side affect of adhd or something?? it isnt an adrenaline rush because i know what those feel like and i felt totally in control of myself...any ideas?

If you see time slow down, and everything seems like an eternity, thats adrenaline.

I get a little shaky every time I PB, even though I've been playin for about 3 years, probably just because I'm exited to play. I dunno, but I usually calm down after the first couple games.

I remember when I first started playing at fields, waiting for the ref to call game on, man, I was real jittery then. I grew out of it though. Soon I'll be playing in my first tourney, though, hope the jitters don't return for that.

Maybe your nervous.

nope, I'd say an extreme amount of adrenaline, despite you thinking otherwise. This is because adrenaline can really mess up your head in large quantities, often in unexpected ways. Shakiness is often associated with adrenaline, especially if your excited. In short, don't sweat it.

Also, ADHD causes shakiness and stuff all the time, (especially when bored, I'm told) and a severe lack of attention. If you are shaking all the time, then talk to your doctor, otherwise, it's adrenaline and excitement.

I jump around before I play. Like not as high as I can, like little hops to help syke myself up. Whenever I play I dont think, I just do it. Its wierd. Its like im a totally different person, sometimes I also scream a lot (or so im told), and im usually a quite person. <3 Adrenaline

Im going in a few hours and im shaking right now. It may be that im a little cold but its mostly just exitement and nervousness. My friends have a lot of pressure on me for being better than them and although I play to have fun, its more fun to win. Also, its been a while since ive gone so I still have the "what if I do bad from being rusty" and "how much does this hurt again?" in my head

Sounds like you got a good dose of not only adrenaline, but epinephrine as well in your body. If you are wondering what epinephrine is, it is the same as when the doctors call for a shot of "epi" during a heart attack in the E.R. It is better known to us as the "fight or flight mechanism."

Adrenaline gives you a burst of energy, but it is short-lived. Epinephrine is about 2X as strong as adrenaline and yit can increase your body's reaction to even minor stimuli ten-fold. It is usually a result of fear, but it can also be a result from not enough carbohydrates being taken into your blood the previous evening (your bdy breaks down glucose and glyogen to make energy and if those are depleted, it can kick in epi to help break down fat stores).

In short, it is hard to ascertain EXACTLY why you are reacting this way, but if you are really concerned, take a trip to your doctor and have a CDC and so forth done (blood work, sorry). Make sure everything is doing what it should be doing.

Good luck.

I get tight in the chest, and a wee bit shakey during the first couple games of the day. I dont know if im excited, scared, or doesed up to the eyeballs with adrenaline. I can't be scared because I play like I normally do. which is running the the left side of the 50 off the break, and start crossin it up.

Its called "auditory exclusion." Its the same as tunnel vision, but with your ears :P. You're so focused on one thing that you don't see or hear anything else. Bad thing. You must break yourself of that if you are a victim of it (not saying you are Avery).

When i get to the feild im all jittiry and exited and happy at the same time that sometimes i can hardly screw my tank into my gun (Another reason on/off's are good) then after about three games it wears out and i can keep my head.

When i was less experienced, every time I went to the field, I got the "shakes". it always wore off after the first game. The feeling dosent come as often except in the first game of a tournament, but ever once in a while at a practice or rec I still get the feeling.

I think its just anticipation, a bit of fear, exitement and such. I wonder if this isnt just a paintball related condition, and that other sports evoke the same emotion. They sure dont for me... Any one play competitive sports have an opinion?

I think I do get the shakes in my hands sometimes, but I ignore it all together and focus intensely on the situation at hand. It's not like I'm going to look down and say, "Oh no my hand is shaking." and then concentrate on it, because the other player will use those seconds to get the upper hand. I don't have the time to even think about how much I am bleeding. There is a time to worry about those things, and it's after the game. As long as you are not going in and out of consiousness you are ok until the game ends. I think being jittery and moving super fast as a positive thing as long as it is within the game. If you are still jittery and moving super fast in the staging area then it's time to worry. Just don't lose control of yourself.

I usually start gettign the shakes as soon as I get in the car to play. Sometimes it lasts a while, sometimes only for a little bit. The best part of all the adrenaline is when I get shot, it feels cold and doesn't hurt :)

Anxiety, better be careful as well because the more you prolong that feeling the more at risk you are for an anxiety attack. Those aren't fun. I'm medicated for really bad anxiety and I still sometimes get that feeling, but then again I have really bad anxiety.
