I shoot a talon as my primary marker!

I just entered a pan am tournament (and participated in a pan am affiliated tournament)...

every single player I saw there used a talon. they are great. I would recomend everyone to use one..... serioulsy.
(you keep using them... I'll use my matrix)

Although it may not be a good idea for you, I could probably play in a tournament with a talon. It also depends what kind of tournament you are in, if it's pump/stock then it would not be that bad. Going egainst semis is much more difficult, I prefer using my VSC phantom for that, athough it can be done with a talon. But this thread is a joke ;)

While I am sure this guy is joking, wouldn't it be great to see someone enter a tourney with a Talon, and get their *** handed to them? Or even better than that to beat someone with it. Could you imagine all the high fives?

-Note to self. Go buy a Talon-

I am not sure if he is serious or not - never the less, the Talon can in fact be a good tournament gun if the shooter is a good tournament player.

If that is what you have and you are comfortable with it, then you may actually have a bettter EAER (effective accuracy and effective range)than the newbie with a cocker.

Yes, The talon is the bottom of the line and is typicaly "sneered" at by immature paintball players young and old. The fact of the matter is, there are much better markers for not much more money (especially if you can buy something used). If the Talon is all that the budget can deal with, then by all means go for it. Make sure to get fully certified safety goggle/mask too (probably cost more than the talon).

hope that helps...

I thought that in tournements, the minimum fps was 280, The max fps for a Talon is 250.:pissed:

No, 280fps is not the minimum, in indoor tourneys it is the max, in most outdoor tourneys 300fps is the max.

hehe, my and my friends were planning to all buy talons, then go to the field with our smart parts jerseys, redz harnesses, jt slider pants, jt masks, jt gloves, the walk into the players lounge saying: "yea, remember when we won the PanAm?" and other things along those lines.... then pull our talons out of our gear bags :D
..but nobody would probably get the joke...
o well.

It's time to let this thread die. All of the jokes about Talons have been overused to the extreme. We all know that they are junk. Even on a budget, nobody would recommend one since you can save $20 more and buy a tracer or something. This guy is surely laughing to himself saying, "Ha! I got 20 replies to my stupid thread. Aren't they all dumb?!"

Look you little ****er, not all Brass Eagles suck. The only two that suck are the samurai and the blade, those are jokes. Immature players, like yourself stereotype Brass Eagle just beacuse they make cheap entry level guns! Another thing, if immature players, such as yourself, keep bashing Brass Eagle, then newbies, well there will be no newbies. You can go out and play with your autococker or whatever you have, but when you get beat by a Brass Eagle you will understand they DON'T suck.:pissed:

Excuse me while I take MY foot out of MY mouth. It may take a minute since it's really jammed in pretty deep. I didn't read the title clearly, my mistakoo. Reading his post, I can see how you could have been taken aback, although your response may have been an overreaction. He certainly didn't back his post up with any sort of information. Regardless, it's time for this thread to die and sink below all the other posts since it was a ridiculous post in the first place. Now I'll "shut the hell up," but I would like to thank you for maintaining your maturity.

I disagree. why? because the talon could in fact be a good tourney marker.

why is it so rediculous? probably, a team with only talons couldn't compete professionally (possibly in a pump only league, thoug), and get anywhere - but that isn't the point, especially since a great majority of tournaments are local field tournies. The point is, that they CAN be used in tournaments. Why belittle someone's budget.

I know that they are plastic and not necessarily well built, but this may be the only thing that the player has, or it could be that it is required for a special tournament (ie - everyone plays with talon's).

also, it may be a choice for the player, just to add some fun in their game. For example, I will be using one of my PG's in the Top Gun contest at the splat-1 tournament. It'll cost me $50 to enter and I'll probably get all whooped up on, but I know I will have fun and the guys with angels will have fun shooting that "snooty old geiser with the antique paintgun"!

My suggestion to all the JABB, JAE and other semi-owners out there - go and spend a couple bucks and get a talon and once in a while take it out (recreational paintball) and use it as your primary marker for a game or two in a season. - no, i didn't say use it all the time, but heck, for the price - just once or a few times in a season - just for fun and excitement (for those that don't already have or also play with a pumper) - be honest with yourself - no blaming the gun when you get shot, use your skills as a player and try to do a good job with it. I challenge ya all to try it. (obviously if you have the budget, you could get something better. - but that's up to you)

I thought it was a ridiculous post because I was almost certain that it was posted just to see how many replies of, "Ha, Brass Eagle sucks!" could be collected. They certainly can be used in any tournaments, as long as the velocity happens to be below the limit on that given day. However, in terms of value in the lower price range, I would have to recommend a diablo (EPG) pump or a tracer. They are solid guns and one can find them used in the $30-$40 range. Plus, as you know, you can adjust velocity using a $5 nelson spring kit. If the person is buying it as a secondary marker, the extra $10-$20 will not kill him. Also, regardless of whether it is as a secondary gun or a primary one, I think that they'd have a whole lot more fun with a Tracer or the like. For newbies just getting into the sport, it is important for them to have fun when they go out to play, so recommending the Tracer is actually a help to them. If the guy already has a talon, that's just fine and I won't ridicule him for his choice. However, if he feels that it's holding him back, I would certainly suggest a slight upgrade in terms of money invested. I also wouldn't recommend a Talon to a prospective buyer who already owns a Tippmann Model 98 and plays on a team, since he can probably scrounge up an extra $15. Just out of curiosity, what are JABB and JAE owners? Now, about you playing with your PGP in a tournament, I think that's great. It is nice not only to expose the other players to the pump playing style, but I'm sure you'll have a blast. Heck, if I were there, I wouldn't look down on you just because I was playing with my "superior" phantom. Anyway, back to the topic... The question was: "Is a B.E. Talon a good tournament gun?" and the answer is: no, it is not a good tournament gun. It can be used in a tournament, but if you can save even a few more dollars, you can buy a significantly better gun." However, I maintain that the desired response was, "What? Brass Eagle?! That's the funniest thing I've ever heard! LMAO! LOL! UR the funniest person in the whole world! How did u ever think up that one?! A talon! HAHAHA!!" And that is generally the response that it got. I like your suggestion of everyone picking up a cheap pump every once in a while though. I started with an Illustrator and now, after I picking up a phantom, I play almost entirely pump.

What kinda tournament is this guy going to with a Talon anyway? If it's a pump gun you want, save your money and get a nice Trracer/Maverick. I do however encourage people to start playing paintball with pumps over semis, I wsih I had. As far as Brass Eagle goes... eh, I don't care for them, but I wont deny that my first marker was a Stingray, and there was a time where I wouldnt have picked up anythign else. Your taste in guns will change with your experience, but still don't ever rule out pumps! I have played for awhile with my Maverick and I love it. Pump is such a fun game, and now I've got this whole bug to go stock class:laugh: Don't mean I'm gonna leave behind my Autococker though:D I do see a distrubing trend though, and that is alot of close minded, electro toting children who refuse to even try a pump gun out, and are thus, ignorant to our sports past. All forms of paintball must be experienced to get the fullest experience of our great game!

Dude go for it. You'll have the biggest balls in that tourny. I mean a talon vs autocockers and tippmanns holy sh*t you got balls.
