Right know i have a spyder victor and i have been playing for about 2 years and i think its time for a change. i dont want to spend over 600-700 on the gone alone, id like to have eveything for about 700. i was thinking about an impulse because i had heard great things and they seem reliable and they are not overly expensive. what do you think would be the thing to get?

Go shoot timmies, imps, 'trixes. Then you'll know for yourself.

good advice.
I've had 2 timmy's and I'm back to my 2nd gun, impulses.
I like the upgradeability and customizing features. Plus they don't break the bank for initial cost.

I suppose you haven't heard of the Ion which many say is better and cost less. Check it out before you decide on an Impulse.

if you have that much money, don't buy an ion. the smart parts adapted the ion as a replacement marker for the impulse because it, stock, performs better and is cheaper than any stock impulse. that doesn't mean that ions are better than impulses though. if you have 600 to spend on an impulse, you could save 50$ more and buy an AI and a WAS board, a gun that will outperform the ion in every way. with 600-700 to spend, impulse>ion.
then again, the you should definitely try out a few other guns in the price range. one that i would specifically suggest is a freestyle.

Quick question:
How does a fully upgraded Imp compare to the rest of the high-end guns? This includes DM4s, DM5s, Protos, Egos, Gen 3 Timmies, Shocker... etc.

A properly setup impulse (tuned too), will not perform any different from any of the guns you mentioned. the only difference will be in how the gun feels when you hold it, wieght, and size. they will all shoot as fast as one another (for practical use that is), be just as efficient as one another, and be just as consistant.

More recoil than a shocker/timmy/dm4.
thats from my personal experience.
Imp's also weigh more.

Its has more kick than a dm4 and shocker, but I don't feel that an Imp has too much more kick than a timmy.

Hark the gospel of TPD! I always try to explain that to people, but they're too busy gawking at the milling on their new Timmy to look at the physics and figure out that they just wasted 1,500 on a pretty face.
But what do you mean by "tuned"? Just proper dwell/pressure/board etc. settings, or something else?

I totally agree. I mean its even in the sticky. The Bob Long sticky says that every old timmy will perform as good as the newest timmy.
Nobody believes that Imps are still good. Once a person hears, Imp; they hear Oh that blows.
No, tuned means getting it cleaned and set up by TPD.;) Oh yeah...and by the other guy...umm...YDNA.

TPD, how much do you charge for this? Whats the turnaround time? I'd PM you, but the last time I tried that, pbreview told me that your inbox was full and you could not receive any new messages.
i acually thing a fully upped and tuned impy hasd less kikc then a timmy. i shot a laysoya the otehr day dry fireing and that freakin barrel was moving all over the place. and that gun was like 2.5 pounds. the alias would be worse. i mnea the kick is not bad at all but i expect better from 800-1000 dollar guns. since impys are like 3.5 pounds i think they kick less.

A fully upgrades impulse, or an impulse with a lpr kit and a delrin bolt will have just as little kick after the bumpers are worn in as any gun out there. most matrixes have less kick than most impulses, but timmy and angels have about the same kick. with double bore, open bolt guns, like the timmy, impulse, and angel, how much kick the gun has is determined mainly by the solenoid's input, but also buy the wieght of the internals and if the bumpers are worn in yet.
Team Chokepoint: i pm'd you
Properly tuned means having the gun setup with the proper dwell, input(s), and properly cleaned/lubed.

exept for that new g7, those things have like no kick at all.
