What do you think is the most over priced paintball gun?

#1: Angels. I'm not saying they're bad, I'd love one... they're the ultimate marker. But some of them are over $2000!! Come on... no paint-marker is worth that!
#2: Autocockers. Upwards of $1000 for a glorified pump-gun? I don't think so.

If you have the money then nothing is over priced..
But I would say IMPACT angels are over priced (but they come with lifetime warrenty) but for $1,700 rather put it towards something else..

Angels are slightly over priced. Shockers are over priced. Any blowback over 150. All spyders but the compacts.

Any shocker or angel is definately over priced.
I couldn't help but notice that nobody who actually owns an Angel thinks they're overpriced.
Now, if they continue to improve the Intimidators, they will become a serious rival, and WDP may have to cut their price, but for now, there's nothing like an Angel. They shoot like nothing else and they're worth every penny.

the most overpriced stock gun - angels above $1,500 (all the custom ones), shockers, kingman AMG, shutter.... there's more
the most overpriced gun - any gun that the owner decides to put all of his money into... for example, a cocker owner, who ends up replacing everything on the gun, and putting on a full freak, conquest, etc.... that is expensive!
but dont get me wrong, i love tricked cockers, and i like angels, i like kingman markers, and smart parts too... i just dont like buying anything that costs so much money.... i guess you could say i am cheap.

Anything $1000 and up is a little over priced. I mean think what less you can buy with that money. A used car or a computer and so on.

BE Blades are waaaay overpriced. Talons are only slightly better. No, but seriously (actually that was seriously) how about that $1000 pump? I don't remember what it was called but maaan. I can't imagne payig that much money for something that doesn't outshoot your loader.
Speaking of overpriced.....you know a Ric AK loader probably costs around $5 to make?

i doubt that since the companny who makes it isn't a really big one. maybe around 30-40

Paintballs are overpriced, but they arent guns, just lettin it out.
Gosh darn angels, they arent worth the price, the overpriced ones. Somthing like the Emag is totally worth it, and for less than the price of an angel, it comes with nitro.

agd isn't including the flatline with it.... i think pbgear was just giving it away with it once but it doesn't come with it

CCM make that incredibly overpriced pump gun. but i must say tha it is very cool, vertical feed, orang to white fade, complete under hand pump action, and a drop forward, i bet there is something special about it that makes it a 1000 dollar gun, like a 2mm pump on it and a wicked auto trigger:D

Angels are way overpriced. Why are they so expensive? What is the markup on these babys? For the price of one Angel, you can get two Shocker Impulses that are way more gas efficient and you can carry them both and run them off one tank. Dual Shocker Action...sounds cool huh?

You have to be the stupidest man alive to say a shocker is more efficient than an angel.. bah.. stupid man

wtf? why are angels so expensive: they are shipped from england. people need to make money. the cost of making and putting together an angel is probably 15 dollars, no joke. the cost of making the machine to make a angel part is probably 100,000. there is a fixed cost to make one angel. the first angel made cost the company over 2000000, probably more. the machines, factory, people, all cost money, that is 2000000 before anything is made. as time passes, the profit must rise over the costs of getting the stuff and the fixed cost of making an angel.
what the heck is a Shocker Impulse?! if you mean impulse, what kinda tank are you carrying, a scuba tank? reasonably, you can only run one gun of a tank. as for shockers, the same thing. the shocker and impluse are made my smart parts . both of them are extremely un efficient with gas, seeing as they come with barrels that are ported a lot, and that they run LP.
please, know something before you speak. shocker dual action bah...

Think of it like this... The Talon ghost is on sale at paintballgear.net for $15. For arguments sake this will be our standard unit.
Is a Tippman seven times better than a Talon Ghost? Yes.
Is a cheap Spyder eight times better than a Talon Ghost? Yes.
Is a stock Autococker 22 times better than a Talon Ghost? Yes, but getting close.
Is a stock Impy or Bushy 27 times better than a Talon Ghost? Sure
Is a Timmy 40 times better? Well... that's debateable...
Is a fully decked cocker 60 times better? doubt it
Is a stock Angel 73 times better? Nope
Is an elemental Angel 120 times better? Nope
Of course, the Talon may not be dollar for dollar the best choice. If we use a $110 spyder, then an Angel would have to be 10 times better to not be 'over priced'. Hey, the Spyder is semi automatic, shoots with decent accuracy and decent rate of fire. An Angel would have to shoot 10 times faster (which it doesn't), and 10 times more accurately (which it doesn't) to be worth it.
I've noticed with paintball markers, every dollar more you put into it gives you more performance or looks. However, not every dollar gives you the same amount. After you get passed some point (say Impy / Bushy range) then you start getting less than a 1:1 for your buck. So what is over priced? Is it any marker that is not the best overall value? (maybe a spyder, tippman, or even the talon) Is it any marker that requires additional money at less than a 1:1? (above the impy or bushy) Is it any marker that may be at less than a 1:1 overall? (like the elemental angel) Or is it one of the economical terms like 'more money than people are willing to pay' or 'not the optimal price' (they could lower it and sell enough more to make more money)?
Personally, I don't know how to define it, nor do I really care. If you think spending X amount of money on Y amount of gun is worth it, do it. If someone wants to go buy an elemental angel, more power to them. If someone else thinks anything over a talon is a waste of money, then that's cool too.

Ok, say you were playing some guy that is just as good as you. If he had 73 Talons and could use them all just as well as you could use one, and you had an angel, who would hold the advantage? Everytime he pops out of the bunker he shoots 73 balls with little accuracy, and you shoot 3 with good accuracy. If half of those balls even got close, and only half would break, that's still like 15+ shots. He should have a 5 times better chance of getting you everytime you both pop out.
And sorry about the mag... it was late and I probably left a lot of stuff out.

utladiesman, that is some respectable math and interpretation you are doing there. That is a cool way to look at things.

Well, actually, supposing the Talon shoots hot out of the box (and there's no way to adjust velo) then it's unusable. Therefore, that would make a Spyder that shoots the legal limit INFINITLY better. Let's assign values to a paintball gun on a 0-10 scale. Angels, are, of course a 10. A stock Spyder is probably around a 5 or so, with a Talon or Blade that shoots the legal limit being about a 1. Our high end electros are usually scoring around 9-10, with cockers and mags somewhere around an 8 unless they're totally tricked. Point being, any unusable gun (because it shoots too high and can't be adjusted) is an automatic 0, meaning that even a gun rated a 1 still has an infinitly greater rating than 0. Seeing as how you can add all the 0s you want to 0 and still get zero. But when you take a 1...and add another 1..and another, and another, and so on, then eventually you'll get a 10, and all your Blade using players will have some chance of taking the guy with Angel, assuming they have a little skill.
Point being, the Spyder, being a 5 is infinitly better than a Talon that shoots hot.
Am I making sense here?
UTLadiesMan
01-06-2002, 01:02 PM
You always make sense. Still, I have never seen a Talon that shoots hot out of the box. I see them usually shot around 180 - 200. Of course, you could just wait for your 12 grams to be half empty and shoot under 300 if you ever had that problem....
