Ok, just picked up a red ion at my local shop. Got home, read through the manual, shortened the trigger up, it's sweet now, and was ready to gas it up.

Problem, I can't turn it on.

Before gassing it up I tried turning it on, I couldn't get it to turn on, figured it had to be gassed up (only thing I could come up with) So I gassed it up, I head the gas enter and the gauge indicated 140psi (I turned it down not knowing what it would be factory set at and I didn't want to fry anything)

So it's gassed and not turning on.

Yes I did try 2 different batteries

When I push on the on/off switch there is no give, it feels like I'm pushing against a solid surface, is that normal? I even consulted my watch to make sure I held it for 2 seconds.

So, did they forget to put in a on/off switch or what? I'm reluctant to take it apart and look inside until I hear what you guys think, Thanks.

I also did a search and came up w/ nothing.

the on off switch is what i think is called an enzyme switch, you will have to apply about 5 lbs of pressure with an ungloved hand to activate it so you can get the hang of it. no it should not have any give.

ion optimal operation pressure 180 psi

Still not working, anything else to try or check?

use the back of your fingernail the first few times until the switch gets worked in. Hold the button "down" for 2-3 seconds then release and the red light next to the button should start flashing. If not, you may have a wiring problem, exchange where u bought it or call SP.

Make sure the battery connections are tight... and press really hard on the red membrane and it should turn on.

as everyone is saying push hard and hold until light comes on... if it does not work take it out and see if there is something wrong with the switch or membrane

If all else fail's you can try taking the grip off and make sure the electronics are sitting correctly.

Did you take the marker apart before you gassed it up? Did you move the electronics at all? I know when I got my ION for the first few times I had to apply alot of pressure to get my marker to turn on.

Unscrew the body from the frame, lift it out about 3/4 of an inch to expose the power switch ont he board, try pressing that. It could be that the power button on the frame is preventing you from pressing it enough.

You ready for a demonstration of my stupidity?

I was pushing the wrong button.

Let me explain. There is the sticker that says 'power', and right next to it the LED. I've handled many electronic devices, and in any situation where you have a 'power' sticker/button next to a light, you never push the light, you push where it says power. And the manual didn't say push the little light, it just said where the button was, so it works now, but I do have another question

more stupidity, how do you turn it off. I tried holding it down for 2 seconds again, but that didn't seem to work.

Guess I'll be the village idiot for another couple days.

Thanks for your help.
