What is the point of having a sidearm?

The sidearm, for most, is a last-ditch weapon. It's what you pull out when you run out of air or ammo. It's what you use to cover your asz when you're reloading and you can hear the hefty hoofbeats of some Rambo coming to bunker you. That is the sidearm's most common application.

For the brave few, however, the sidearm is paintball in its purest form. It is the last-man-standing, outgunned-but-not-outclassed, balls-to-the-wall, heart-racing way to play. When the sidearm is wielded as the primary weapon, gone is the luxury of flinging paint every which way, as you have to conserve what limited shots you have. You have to exercise more stealth and misdirection than you would had you a long gun. The benefits are that you've got more freedom of movement. Also, "An ounce in the morning is a pound in the evening." You'll feel the difference after a hard day of paintballing. Yessir, it's the only way to fly...:D
