Spyders, Tippmanns, Pirhanas... They all use a spring the realease the bolt and and seal the chamber and firing a ball. They are recocked with air. The air "blows" the bolt back. With a blowback you'll also get air pushed back up the feedtube which is considered "blowback."

If you are curious what some other terms mean, you can consult the PBR Paintball Dictionary (http://www.pbreview.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=286691) found in the New Paintballers Section (http://www.pbreview.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=12).

I hope this will help a bit. :)

other guns taht aren't blowback guns get "blowback" as well...

just blowbacks have a tendency to get more.

just to nitpick your explanation...did u notice how every gun gets recocked with air? :P

its more like this...the marker has a bolt assembly, which consists of the bolt itself up top, and a spring and striker in the bottom tube. when u fire, the striker is released, and the spring pushes the assembly forward, hitting the valve pin. the valve pin allows air to go in two directions...up through the bolt and onto the ball, and back at the striker.

the air that hits the striker "blows" the assembly back, and it recocks.

just for the sake of being more clear...haha...yea...

oh, but they don't......

mags, and the ICD desert fox are both "blow-forward", and have a spring return on them. ha. pwned. ha..

.... that was a whole lot less gratifying than i thought it would be....:(

You forgot the Equalizer. Pumps are manually recocked. The Para-Ordinance paintball marker (I believe) doesn't.

So wait, Tippmann's are in a stacked tube design? For Spyders though, you hit the nail on the head.

tippmans yes, are different. they have that whole integrated-into-one-tube thing. however...when u think blowback, u generally dont think tippman, but you think spyder, or piranha, or whatever else.

and i actually sort of meant for semis...pumps arent automatically re-cocked during the cycle, they have to be manually done so.
