Why does a gun use more air if your paint fits loosley in the barrel? Doesnt the gun use the same amount of air with each shot even if the paint is loose or tight?

If the paint is loose more air is aloud outa the gun around the paintball, therefore extra air is needed to shoot the paintball. If the paintball fits well, then less air is used because no air escapes around the paintball.

it's like this if youdon't turn your velocity up or down then you use no more no less gas however if you try to achieve maximum fps then a really good paint fit is essential. like skull said less air rushes past the ball and therefor a better pressure build up behind the ball is achieved thats why a super long barrel with alot of porting is an impractical ....
