View Full Version : Questions on upgrades?

I was wondering, I have a tippmann model 98 custom, and I'm looking to upgrade it some more (I have a barrel and a double trigger already). First, on the m98 custom, if i bought an expansion chamber would it be worth it, and if so, would it have to go through the forward grip or could i install it where the steel hose goes in now (inbetween the trigger and front grip/handle). Next, i was wondering if the Shocktech Superfly bolt and the Dead On m98c Proseal are worth the money (I most likely will make my purchases on www.actionvillage.com). Do you think that i would have any problems with the Dead On Pro Style Drop Forward (besides buying a hose/macroline/microline kit)? And about those Macroline/Microline kits, is there a good type or company to buy them from? Or should i just make sure i have it professionally installed? If I bought the drop forward I mentioned earlier and using CO2, would a gauge be useful at
all for knowing how much CO2 i have left (and if so up to what psi should i get)? I like another barrel comparison also, between what i have now, a Smartparts Teardrop 14", and the J&J Edge 14'' barrel kit. Is there a noticeable difference, and don't all J&J barrels shoot through breaks too? And finally, I have placed a cut-down pen spring in my trigger pull (and it has worked out very nicely), but is there anything else i can do to increase cycle rate and reduce trigger pull for my mechanical marker? Thank you for your time.

I know these are a lot of questions to ask at one time but can you help me out as best you can?

One MORE thing: Just to clear things up with me and my friends, does the M98 Response Trigger make the Tippmann fully automatic? thx!

(if anything looks wierd, like i talk as though to someone else... this was a E-mail that i copied and pasted.)

ok for the brrel get the smartparts tear drop or the j&j edge barrel kit. the expansion chamber i think has to go through grip but i am not quite sure. The RT does not make the tippy 98 FULLY automatic its semi. But if you hit the sweet spot on it you can get very very close to fully automatic which is why some fields ban them. About the microline kits don't get one for co2 because I heard the the micro line will freeze and mess up since the co2s spikes and drops of consitancy. but if you do get one for compressed air get it professionally installed its much easyer i find. about the bolts the shock tech is supposed to make it more accurate but the pro seal is not worth the money all it does is rase the velocity and its aluminum. It also looks nice and shiny when you look in the gun.

Both of you, shut up. I'm tired of these "what do yuo tink i sh0uld buy?" threads, by stupid noobs. It's called the Ultimate Sticky, read it, stupid. And, there's that magical search butoon, use it.

Buy 'em all. Then sell what you don't like for half the price you paid.

Honestly you're going to let a bunch of guys who you've never even met tell you what to do with YOUR marker. It's YOURS, do some reasearch, in the REVIEWS sections, since this is pbREVIEW.com. And you should get all of the answers you need.

For CO2 get steel braid insteada macro, and don't even think about getting micro.

AFter that read the ultimate sticky, it's your friend and stuff.

Everyone who said something reprehensible in this thread...DON'T DO THAT!!!!

ok... you are on PBReview.com

1. You can look up all the items' reviews by people who have tried the items or own them.

2. You can look at the stickies.

3. You can do a search.

Please do one or all of the following to find the information you are looking for.

When all else fails, and there is nothing that you found (which I highly doubt) then post questions regarding the items on how they will affect your marker's performance.

I actually found more information reading the reviews more than anything else more insightful when I was doing research on upgrades for my 98c.

But I will give you some information.

Expansion chamber is not worth it, unless co2 is the only gas that you can get in your area. This is not unheard of, certain places do not have N2 available for their customers.
I bought one... tried it out and right now I have an expansion chamber that I purchased for no particular reason.
I went on to purchase a regulator since I did go HPA instead of Co2.

But if you must then sure it will help with giving co2 time for expanding within the chamber so that you do not/allow little to no liquid into the gun. This will help efficiency of co2.

If you are interested in purchasing my X-chamber PM me.

Co2 + Macroline is a no no. Co2 is just like Freon... if it goes liquid in the hoses the hoses will become brittle and prone to breaking. (that's the short version)

Response trigger does not make the gun fully automatic. It gives the impression but it is a piston which is pushed forward when gas enters the piston and your finger weight allows the sear to be released. Short version.

Hope this helps..
