This is a very basic question but i cant figure it out myself. I am trying to learn how the my a-5 works and i understand everything except the trigger and sear. Could someone please explain to me how the actual trigger and sear works?

it takes a real long time to explain, but If you read the technical section on warpig.com there are some good Tippmann FAQ's on there.

uhhhh, basically when u pull the trigger it trips the sear pushing it down and lets the bolt cycle.

yeah like hummer king said. imagine the trigger with a pin through a hole in the top so it can swing back and forth. now the sear is like a se-saw but this se-saw has a spring on one end which pushes it up making the other end stay down. the sear also has a pin in the middle for a pivot point.
there is a little notch in the rear bolt which hangs onto the pushed up end of the sear from above. there is a metal peice on the back of your trigger that hits the low end of the sear when you pull the trigger. so when the trigger is pulled the metal peice hits the end of the sear that is down, this makes the sear level out like a se-saw. this in turn releases the rear bolt because it doesnt have anything to hold onto anymore. then the rear bolt propelled by your main spring in the back of your gun is attached to the front bolt by a connector so the two bolts move simultaneously. while the front bolt pushes the ball into your barrel the rear bolt hits the back of the valve and it lets the gas through. this further projects the ball out of the barrel and into the air and hopefully onto your opponents.:D and then theres ecxess gas that moves your cyclone loading another ball and it makes the rear bolt reset and blahditty blah blah but i wont get into that all.
