easy way to polish a barrel not the best but it does work just fine.
What you need
--5/8" dowel rod
--saw (hack saw or coping saw works well)
--Emery cloth any grit though finer is better
--Lapping compound 600 grit and 1000 is what i use though you can get finer id you want
--drill
1--Tear the emery cloth into strips
2--cut a slot into the end of the dowel rod.
3--insert strip of emery cloth into slot and wind it around so that the grit is on the inside untill it is a snug fit inside the barrel
4--put dowel rod into drill (you might need a smaller dowel if the drill doesn't have a big chuck)
5--rub lapping compound into the cloth side of the emerycloth
6--drill away (make sure the drill runs in the direction that tightens the wrapping of the emery cloth anbd to oil the cloth and barrelwith wd-40 or simmilar until the last polish.
When you feel the 600 grit has done all it can use a new piece of emery cloth and a finner lapping compound 1000. you can then move to using buffing compound for a perfect polish if youwant.
Warning the barrel will get hot wear gloves or other protective gear.
