As good as a gun the Ion is for the price, i dont neccesarily care much for the looks of it. I was wondering what everybody else thought about next years model. Do you think the Ion will get new looks? or not becuase its still new and the interchangable shells will then be unusable?

Companys will make their own shell. There is a picture of an all silver ion a guy did simply and it looks VERY nice.

of course. plastic is insanely easy to work with compared to metal. even toy companies like mattel could get into making ion bodies.

The "sesame street" Ion? maybe?
I don't like the ion, but one thing I do give them is there made well, and, though it kills me to say this, they look nice. And its Semi-easy to mod/paint the body .

i can picture a barbie ion. think of a flesh colored ion body with arms, legs, and a head jutting out of it.

God, I hope it gets new looks. A new trigger at that too. Those are the only things I have against it. Oh, and the fact that it comes from the factory with ramp so all those nubs can hurt people. Its just that yellow shell that is ugly as sin. The black aint' too bad though.

I live by the song "Paint in black" by the Rolling Stones :)
And yeah, I hope some people make some rear accessable shells that look better. An aluminum shell would be pretty sweet too...

haha yea. i know i hate the ramping too. to me its more cheating than anything else. way more cheating than talent if u even call it talent. Black looks best of all but it needs some new looks. Right now it looks like a total noob gun to me. Noob magnet is basically what it is, just a lot of other people are buying it to which is fine because its a solid gun and for 300 bucks its amazing. but the looks make it really plastic-like

Of course it will get new looks. Like it or not, looks sell markers and that is only amplified with the lower end. Most of the people on this forum genuinely care about their paintball marker choices and will take them very seriously... however we are a minority. The public at large will see that it shoots fast, ramps, and looks nice... then they will buy it. Take two markers side by side that are almost identical performance wise, and people will almost always take the hotter one.

its not like i have asked people but i know most of them probably are. i went to bunker this one kid with one, and u could tell he was no experienced player. Anyways, i kinda messed up and i ended up behind another bunker like 10 feet in front of him and constantly for like 30 seconds i hear at least 15-16 bps. and after shooting the crap outta him once when he tried to bunker my friend, i know he was ramping.
ramping is so lame. For those who cant walk a trigger and use ramp modes to make em look good. Pisses me off some. But theres a lot of people who are really good too without ramping cuz i go to SC Village and there are some good foos out there.

Yeah. I know like 3 companies (SP included) that are already making prototype shells.
Anvery_mac- shorten your sig. It's way too long.

Plus...I don't think your set-up can compete with ramping machine guns...Speed-wise...

True, but from experience I know it won't be moved.
To answer the question, yes someone will make new shells, if not aftermarket companies then SP.

It doesn't need to be or I would have moved it when I posted.

Companies will definatly come out with new Ion bodies. Im sure SP will also make new colors and such later on in the year if not in 2006.

The looks may not change because it would be cheaper if Smart parts didnt redesign the Ion. Since, probably alot of companies are going to make shells, the design of the Ion should be universal to be compatible with the all the shells. Other than that, the internal electronics could change as technoledgy is always advancing and there will always be things to be improved
just my opinion:)

All SP needs to do is create 5-10 different body designs and that will keep interest alive. The same colors will get old since so many seem to be getting them.
