Hey I have been playing paintball for about 2 years and I cinda feel like a newb becuase I steel don't know that much about the tec side of paintball. I can play great, lots of kill and little of deaths. But I do not know that much about the guns and other parts of the tec side (first gun I got was a Excellerator 3.5E. Tells how much I know.). I'm looking for ether some one in Prince George, BC or if there is a web site or books, or what ever.
Looking to get more into paintball like for games on the weekend and maybe one day play some tournaments.

Sadly, I'm going to have to agree with you there, no offense. :|
Look around PBR. Before I came here, I thought paintball grenades would work great in speedball....

Hopefully this won't turn into that.
If you feel that way read the Stickies and FAQ's here in the specific marker sections you seem to be interested in or curious about. If your good at it then keep doing it and study the different markers if you feel that way.

Heh, try not to you "kill" and "die" when talking about paintball unless its used in the context of the kids getting killed with their co2 bottles. Its not really whats happening, just say you shoot out a bunch of people or something like that, and don't get out very much.
Being great on the tech side isn't really important. Just read around different forums, search and then ask questions. Ask questions out on the feild too. Here is a great starting place for knowledge on almost every type of paintball and paintball marker. Just don't read the reviews, they are always biased and don't actually help. Specific marker forums are much better.
What do you shoot now?
BTW, its still not steel, kinda not cinda, and tech not tec.

Yeah my wrighting sucks.
Im still shooting the Excellerator 3.5E. was lloking into getting something a bit better. All I can find here right know is CO2, don't have mush of a proshop her (eather a gun shop, home hardware, walmart or canadian tire, so morelikly have to get off the web) We have 2 fields here been to one (not a great field at all) hopefully we be able to get to the new one this year some time.

Honestly, a lot of how good you are depends on your location. If you live in backwoods Alabama (no offense), you're not going to get as much exposure to good players and good teams as someone in SoCal or some place like that. You probably just need to learn some Paintball vocabulary and read up on a lot of stickies.

Very true. Honestly, many pro players don't know that much about their guns. Today I was watching Ryan Greenspan of Dynasty taking the board out of his Dynasty Shocker (he traded Shockers with a friend of mine), and I saw him look over to my friend to see how he was taking his board out. Maybe I was wrong on that occasion, and he did know what he was doing, but another friend of mine overheard Oliver talking about how his Shocker always breaks down. Most pro players just hand their guns off to a tech if they're not working. If you know the right people and have connections, you don't need to know much on the tech side. I know a lot about Timmies, Autocockers, Trixes, and Spyders, but I don't know how to take a Shocker apart.

Yeah, he said he was from BC so, I wouldn't expect his english to be perfect. Also, if he is good in his area, isn't that all that matters lol? Its not like he is going to travel to South Cali and start playing with the big boys. But yeah, his skills probly aren't amazing or anything, long as its good enough for his area thats all that matters. But paintball is all about fun, so in the scheme of things its fairly unimportant, unless you are tourny crazy with sponsors.
The thing with pro's are they don't need to have to know how to fix thier marker. Sad, the people most look up too couldn't fix a simple problem. But its like saying celeberties don't need to know how to clean, cause they can just have someone else do it... Isn't America great?

quoted for truth, i live in a town in ARKANSAS where the only paintball found is woods and that's it. if you want to play speed ball you either have to get permission from a team to use their private field, or drive and hour and a half both ways to one of two places. Then on top of that the better field is going out of business. the only exposure i get to other guns than my own are the ones at walmart and tippmanns (maybe the occasional cocker) because thats all people buy.

That starting to get retarded, he had an honest question, not like anyone was acting stupid to deserve it.

The first time I saw the "flame resistant jacket" I had a small chuckel, but now it's kind of killed.
Anywho, if you've been playing for 2 years, but not much in those 2 years, you will feel kind of new. Play more and you'll feel more, "seasoned" Speaking of which Montreal Seasoning on steaks is amazing.

ook thats great for the pro to be able to pass thier markers onto some one else. seeing im not a pro and have know one to pass it on to get fixed. I kinda keed to know what I'm doing. I was looking to do tournament about BC so nothing to big but still need to be able to atless keep up. (not in play, can do that, but in marker wise).
So I'm looking for a marker that I can play the Tournaments aournd here (looking at something like the Outkast), and also something I can just play around with my friends that can run on CO2 and not do to much harm. (looking maybe at the Imagine Digital LED) (but I have read that CO2 is not good for a LED?)

No. Stay away from cockers...unless your town is different from mine.

An Ion will be great for tournaments, and can run on CO2. You should definitely get one.

If you want to learn more about the tech side of paintball, read every sticky relating to markers. Read up in the Air forum, hopper forum, New Players forum (Paintball Dictionary)side as well. Go to Warpig too to read their tech articles and watch the tech info vids from this website: http://www.webdogradio.us/video/tipclip/
Where are you from again?

Yeah, a lot of times I come on here to teach, but when I come on here to learn, I just read. I rarely have to post questions about a particular gun I'm interested in.
Wanna know how a Timmy works? Go to the Bob Long forum and read a couple of sticky threads.
Wanna know how to time a 'cocker? Head over to WGP.
Does the Ion take Co2? Yes, but it's gotta be anti-siphoned (have a look over in Smart Parts for that one)
Figure out what you want to learn about, head to that forum, and read.
If you can't find the answer you're looking for, post the question and you'll have one in a little bit.

I'll probably just saved us 3 more stupid threads.
Go out and ask your proshop for help too.

A way to LOOK smarter on the field is to be able to recognize different guns with a simple glance at them. Know what an Angel is, and what it isn't. Know what an autococker looks like. Know what a timmy is, as compared to an impulse and a shocker and an ion. Yeah, just brush up on gun-recognition skills.
That way, you can say "wow, nice (timmy, 'cocker, etc)" Then they won't think you're a TOTAL newbie. When they start talking tech with you about their gun, though.... just say "aww, i don't really know all that much about them..." and you'll be fine.
I live in WA State..... BC is a nice place.
