is it smart to leave unused gas in the tank? (co2) It's been there for about ...8 months now ( i know its been a while) and
i won't be able to reach it for another 3 months or so.
And if i were to empty out the tank (for airplane travel assuming i get it thru customs) should I release the safety valve or just half-screw it into my gun and let it run?
thanks guys.

It's safe, but if you take it on the airplane you should empty it. Just push the pin on the corner of a table and all the CO2 will come out.

just buy another co2 tank if you are going on a plane. TSA requires that the reg be off the bottle and co2 regs are loctited on and need to be reinstalled by a professional. so it is really not even worth it.

It's actually a good thing to leave a small amount of pressure in your tanks for storing. The pressure will keep moister out of the tank so it won't rust up.

and that's why I don't rent.... ;)
I don't need to get hit in the face when a valve breaks off....

I don't need to get hit in the face when a valve breaks off.... and chunks of rust shooting through pressure lines dont treat solenoid valves too well...
