Earn $800 for a $400 setup? I think you need to slap your parents and if you can save up that much, get a FS or DM4.

I think his parents don't what him just working all summer just to buy the gun and then be broke again when school starts. I would do it if I were you. And you'll have a little extra cash.

my rents make me put half in the bank, im good at saveing cash tho and makeing it too. I would go for the 800 idea. i know its a pain finding a job at that age, heck i wont have one till summer when its legal and im 16.

you could pick up an upped bko for 200...and then get a halo and hpa tank if you dont have either.

heck for 300 in a month you could get a b2k4 w/ pds for around that.

I mean they want me to earn double of what the marker setup is going to be and put the other half in my bank account so incase i am ever broke i will have the extra money in my account, even tho i already have about 3k in my bank account.

I'd say do the work. Im 15 and worked a 42hr week to pay for my freestyle. It was worth it.

well i dont like buying used becuase i got screwed once, i bought the local ref's e-mag for $350 and after the 2nd time playing it crapped out on me, Luckily i got my $ back, and also im probably getting a 68/4.5k crossfire fiber wrapped tank.

First of all, this should be decided by you and your parents. I doubt if anyone here knows you well enough to tell you to buy or not buy.

Also, I would agree with your parents requesting that you have some savings regardless of your decision to buy or not buy.

Finally, by the end of the summer, you will be a better judge as to whether to buy or not as you'll have to decide if spending $400+ dollars on paintball equipment is worth all that hard work.... or you may want to save all of the money. That's completely up to you.

Cheers

Used or new I welcome the idea your parents have put in front of you. I see to many parents purchasing markers for their kids these days with the child never raising a finger to help pay for it. In some cases this is a very good deal but for the most part it is usually a bad situation.

It has been my experience that the biggest majority of the time those kids that get teh markers for free dont take care of it and even abuse it to the point that it no longer functions properly and they then tend to bash the marker and the next thing you know mommy and daddy is buying them a new one.

By making you work for the marker you will have a better appreciation for it and you will be more likely to care for it far more than you would if you didnt have to work for it. I respect your parents for their decision and I say get to work!!!

There are numerous jobs that a 13 year old can do. When I was that age I ran my own lawn care service and pool cleaning service. I also worked at the local parks picking up trash on the weekends.

It was no problem for me to knock down an easy 2grrr a summer.

Another possibility is checking with local farmers in your area. They are always in need of people to help them with chores around the farms.

Another idea is to place a add in your local paper offering services that you can do.

Eldery assitance is a big money maker. It allows you to preform a service for a person that is unable to tend to little things like grocery shopping, picking up medical supplies, cleaning around their house, etc....

There are several ways you can earn the money to get your marker. It is simply up to you to decide how you want to go about getting the money. The only limitation is you and your desire.

By the way if you live in Missouri come by and see me. I need someone to work for me for around a $1 a day :)

actually i live in florida, and the part i live in doesnt have any farms around so that idea is out, more then likely i will go around and lay sophit and just work in my dads business framing houses and stuff like that, i mean i can easily make $100-300 a week but since i have to make double of my marker setup i am basically working the whole summer which leaves no time for actually playing the great game of paintball.

i mean i can easily make $100-300 a week thats not bad money. How much are you getting paid per hour? Also, do you have to work on the weekend? If you work several weekdays a week all summer that'll make you enough money, and your weekends will still be free.

When I bought my B2K3 I made money working for $5.75 at Publix (crappy job, but they hire younger people so you might get a job there, I think they hire at 14). Dont worry, it wasnt too bad except for the horrible bosses. Its like in Office Space when 5 ppl in a row tell him to put the covers on those damn TPS reports  .

Anyway, grocery stores often hire younger ppl to bag groceries. Check that out.

Then theres lawn mowing, babysitting, etc. Those can make some nice bonus cash on top of a steady job.

See how old you have to be to ref at a nearby paintball field, and what the pay is like. fun job, and you arent totally deprived of paintball even if you work all weekend.

And then there's always shoplifting, stealing from your parents, taking lunch money, etc.

But yeah if you work for it you'll definately appreciate it more, and having a job will be great in the long run even after you buy your gun.

well ive only played at the local field like 3 times but the ref's do not get paid, they get 2 cases of paint per 3 days work and free entry fee, i also have 1 other problem though, my mom is fine with the idea but i havent asked my dad about getting a new marker yet becuase i really dont feel like getting chewed out when he is already mad becuase he will think it is insane to spend that much $ on a paintball marker, but personally i think it is bullshi*t that they wont let me buy it if i earned the money myself but i guess im just going to work over summer and i turn 14 june 3rd so once i turn 14 im going to apply for a part-time job at either winn-dixie or publix or both and go to whichever will pay the best first or depending on who accepts me first or the hours i will need to work. :) so hopefully i should be shooting a b2k4 w/pds next school year or even this summer if i work my a$$ of this summer.

I don't know you well... nor do I know your parents well. But from what you've described of them, I think they are just wanting to make sure you spend responsibly.

If I might be so bold as to suggest something here that may be completely out of line........

show your dad you are responsible. if he says "no" to the marker.... still work hard. in fact, work closely with him and show him you're responsible.... for example... being on time for work... good workmanship in what you do... work hard. etc. Then, by the end of the work season, ask him again. He may still say "are you nuts... look at how hard you worked and you want to blow how much into a thing that spits out paintballs?!?" At least then, you can say, that you know you worked hard. You feel it's worth it. AND you've put some money into savings. Again... showing responsibility.

This might sound nuts.... but respect your parents. In turn, you earn their respect.

Cheers

I don't think autocockers are what he's lookin for, unless you get a karni or black magic which'll end up to be more hassle anyways.

My parents are the same they make me save half. I use to have a tippy a-5 with a crap load of stuff on it. So im startin tourny play and i want a new gun. My parents tell me i am nuts to spend that much on a gun when i already have a A-5 which is worth over 500. So I had to save double and i had to deal with my parents bellerin at me that i am crazy. BUUUTTTT i am now getting my b2k4 w/pds. OOOOYaaaa
