I have decided to either get a reg or a xchamber and im not sure which one to get...A lot of people told me regs are better, but ive never really seen anyone with a reg on their tippmann...Should i get a reg on an xchamber for my custom 98???

If you are going to stick with co2 on a 98 i'd say get the exc. If you are going to run hpa get a reg. The reg will give you a bit of an edge over the exc even with co2. However the 98's valve system is very consistant already so the preformance is very close. (i know because i have had both)

I beg to differ. I run my M98C with a Palmer's vertical Stabilizer regulator. Ever since I dumped my expansion chamber for it I have had much better consistency and efficiency than I did with my expansion chamber. In all honesty, a reg, specifically a stabilizer of you're running on CO2 can kick the pants off of any expansion chamber, no matter how many stages. A regulator supplies a constant flow of regulated air to the paintgun, makine it much more consistent in operation. Regulators are not cheap, a vertical Stabilizer is about $90 the cheapest I have found it, at g3pb.com. Unless you are serious about operating your marker, and playing the sport, I would spend the money on something else. I however, am a very avid player and chose to buy something which could deliver the highest performance attainable.
If you're on a budget, or are not serious enough to spend the cash on a Reg, then a chamber will work fine. Chambers give CO2 room to expand before it enters the valve area. This can give better efficiency in colder weather, as well as prevent velocity spikes in warmer weather. They function very decently, just not at all like a reg. the 2 best Chambers I have found are the Psycho Ballistics X-Core at countypaintball.com and the ACI 4 and 6 stage chambers at countypaintball and pbgear.net
I just added a WGP ergo regulator into my vertical adapter on my M98C but also have a PB x-core exp. chamber screwed into my ASA and have a coiled remote connected to that which is all run off a 20oz. co2 tank.
Haven't played a game yet with this set up but chronoed it the other day and it sure seems like it fires more consistantly, stayed between 280-290 even during rapid fire. Velocity use to drop alot lower without the reg (like250-260).
