Ok, I added another marker and edited the table, etc. Here is the new improved results.

Measure them again without drops, many people dont use them and many of the guns use diffrent drops.

The Shutter only has the Stock drop on it, and the 98 was done with and without drops. None of the other markers had drops on them. I don't have the necessary parts to measure the Shutter without the Drop so I added a Piranha R6 without a drop and with the stock ASA.

And take the barrels off. My tippy is almost the same length as my ion. Both w/ stock barrels on.

Taking the barrels off does not work for several reasons. First, some markers such as the Shutter and Minimag have a shroud that extends past where the barrel joins making the length without a barrel artificial. The simulated length with 12 inch barrels accomplishes the goal I think you are trying to suggest.

Well this is where the difference lies, a M98 may be the same size as an ion(lets say i don't think that's true tho) but it feels way bigger right? Why, because the M98 has the trigger frame and foregrip spaced extraordinarily far apart. SO in turn it feels larger, that's why. Good chart tho.

The 98c and ion are ABOUT the same length w/ barrels. Size yes the ion is a lot smaller.

Someone wants a sticky.

Seriously though, interesting information.

I'll noodle on it a bit and decide if I should merge it with the FAQ or give it its own thing.

Hold off on adding it for awhile, I'm slammed with finals right now but I would like to add some more markers, especially the Pro Carb and A5, once my finals are over in like 3 weeks. I just decided to do this because I was tired of people saying how long Tippmanns, and that you can't use them for speedball. I thought some empirical data might be useful for comparisons sake so that I could show that with the right setup, the Tippy wasn't that different size wise, and not to the overexagerated extent most Spyder owners insist on claiming.

Eladarmi: nice empirical data, but it comes slightly short. Let me explain:

Take your second gun in the picture and the Tippmann. Now, compare the size: you have a compact body on that gun and an extended one on the 98C. They may be similar lengths, but the thing is, your Tippmann has a spread out CoG which is why some say it is heavier and some say it is longer. You have an Uzi on the one hand (sorry, real-world comaprison here) and an MP5PDW on the other. Similar function and so on and similar length, but the Uzi is a more compact design like a pistol, whereas the PDA maintains the SMG appearance, same as the 98C.

Does that make any sense? After my tests today (I too have finals and a graduation to worry about on 7 May) I can write a better explanation, or PM me if you want some more numbers to possibly try crunching.

Good thought though!
