I just did a search for an old thread about cleaning gear in the dishwasher. If anyone does this, is it ok to do? What all do you stick in the washer, what settings should I use, etc...This was back in like feb. of 2004 i think...

I put pods, squee-gee's, masks, barrels in there on normal settings with no soap. Does fine and I've never had an issue (other them my girlfirend complaining...;) )

Just have her do the dishes by hand and quit complaining? ;)

How does your mask foam do in the dishwasher, just out of curiosity...

I have done this many times, and the foam is fine. It does stay wet for a few hours afterwards, but has never damaged.

If you're going to run the mask in there, do NOT use soap. I repeat, DO NOT. It will deteriorate you mask faster than windex will and weaken it significantly without appearing to be damaged.

I stick everything but the gun, hopper, and tank in there lol.

Just don't put soap and you won't find a better way to wash your shat off.

Yeah, soap/detergent is designed to break away and deteriorate food off of plates/etc. it would have no problem breaking down the soft plastic. you know how easy your mask scratches? yeah...exactly. So don't do it.

In the clothes washer:

-Jerk Squeegees/Swabs
-Clothes
-Packs

In the dishwasher:

-Pods
-Hoppers (after a few months, you'll want to, believe me :yuk: )
-Stick Squeegees
-Assorted small pieces (thread savers, elbows, et. al.)

I prefer to wash my mask by hand...much easier, and much more control.

How often do you guys tear apart your hoppers? I assume it is the biggest pain in the world, i've never taken mine apart to throughly clean it..I guess i should.

Considering I have a VL200, whenever I want...usually after every third outing or so.

For the more complicated hoppers, it would be a good thing to tear them apart constantly...it'll help you learn how they tick and whatnot.

YOU go tell her that.... I'm crazy...not stupid. ;) You ever see a pissed off women throw a plate? It's like a Samurai warrior throwing a star...just faster and harder.
Much better to load up the dishwasher and empty it yourself. This way she doesn't see the gear and you get "special" cudos for doing dishes.

as for the foam, like Mary said, never been a real issue. I did have it peal away a bit in the corners when I accidentally let it go through the dry cycle, but nothing a drop of super glue couldn't fix in seconds.

spyderlover... I'd put that in the washing machine. Most packs are dyed and they'll bleed a good amount until they're broken in and washed enough. You don't want that dye all over your dishes.

ROFL. I know the pain. I got hell for putting the plastic cutting board into the dishwasher....and warping it. Whoops. At least she doesn't throw things....just scream a lot and make me sleep on the sofa on occasion.

If it doesn't do anything to the foam, I may have to run my profiler through it after this weekend.
