View Full Version : So I'm making a movie..

So I'm making a full length film about my team to capture the essence of what just a normal, local rookie NorCal team does and goes through. I think people would like it because unlike great movies like CK and Sunday Drivers, they could truely relate to my teammates and I as we tell our story.
So anyways, the purpose of my post is, I'm open to any suggestions you guys have. I'm also in the process of putting together a soundtrack for it, and I'm looking for like local (to you) band talent, so if any of you have some tracks from your buddies or yourself you'd like to donate, please do.

One thing for a suggestion. Keep the camera as still as possible. I can't stand to watch a film where the camera is bouncing all around the place. If you can, use a tripod.

...Or maybe even a quadpod.

I'll try, but alot of the movie will include us walking down the street at night when we're playing an out of town tourney.

....That's kind of bland, don't you think?

Good opening...or ending. Play some Emo song thats slow in the beginning then really fast while you play. Or any other song.

Not really, Push has an entire section on what they did at night after a day at the tourney, this is capturing every aspect of a rookie division team.

just make it about what a normal team i like. show what it's really like and don't cut out clips of games. show the whole thing.

Include a hot chick. Make it like Grind, the skateboard movie. Always have rival team who is a total dick.

Preferably, a group of crackers just like the guys from "Grind". Let's face it, no one likes crackers.

Kracker. :P
Eh, to be honest, I could care less what you dress like...Punk, emo, hip-hop...Actually, I'll take that back, I'm scared of gothic people, but otherwise I'm pretty cool with other dudes.
goths are just really really mesed up emo kids.......
but for the movie...remember HOT CHICKS that attracts people more than paintball would :-p

Personally, I just can't stand crackers/krackers. Every time I see somebody who's white but believes they're black, I just have this strange spasm where my open hand swings at their face and makes a loud "SMACK!" sound.
I am going through physical therapy in order to relieve it, but the doctors say I may never be fully cured.
good point ok "goths" are just really really messed up emo kids
notice the quoet marks....that way any one that thinks they are goth or something are covered too

I am pretty sure Goths predate the phrase 'Emo'.

Awesome.
Just make sure you guys show EVERY aspect of it. Not just games, etc.

I'm not gonna take music from any of the major films or online films, at the most there will maybe be only 1 or 2 songs by any major band in here, I'm looking for original or new-to-the scene sounds from local bands from all over the place.

Sounds good. Oh and add deleted scenes (if you can), everyone likes deleted scenes.

www.brokencenter.com My friends band.
Twenty One Rest has a song called "Light Show" that would be awesome for some action shots.
Try and have some scenes of some kind of barrier or hardship. Drama sells movies, and actually winning the tourny would help a lot too.

Omega - i'll check it out thanks. I'm filming whatever happens, I'm pretty sure I'll get some hardship in.
Murderdoll - Rwar, IM me at aZnSqueeji. I cant find your SN.
Rawr, I'm already liking some of the stuff Omega, thanks!
Btw before anyone gets too stoked aobut this, the movie wont be at total completion for about 2 years, this is a huge documentary of about 2 seasons of XPSL.

I think a good song would be "Behind me lies another fallen soldier" by As I Lay Dying, it has a slow paced intro and goes into some nice hardcore stuff, would be good for a quiet intro and then some good playing or action shots.
I got a few bands that are somewhat big and from a few hours away from me.
- Grade
- Silverstein
- Moneen
And my friends brothers band http://www.clockstrikesmusic.com/
Good band, good guys and very underground for ya:)

These guys are pretty good... but I doubt you could get them. If you put a bunch of whining Emo bands on your movie, it will have zero lasting appeal.
