It expands in the small confined space of the solenoid and blows seals. Or it damages the fine o-rings in there.

Yes. CO2 PLUS SOLENOID = BAD

Yup. Not to mention, all the grit, grime, and sludge (I've seen the inside of a couple tanks... nasty stuff) will get directly into everything. Add to that the extremely cold temperatures, and the tendency for liquid CO2 to bypass the reg and spike, and you have a BAD combination.

Blown O-rings? Hah. That's just the tip of the iceberg... one of the saddest thing's I've seen at my field was some little kid with what appeared to be a heavily-scratched-up older Speed, with a... 9 oz on it. He said it was his first time playing with it (musta been bought used), and within the hour, EVERY seal on it had been blown, or so it seemed. Looked at it for awhile, and it seems that he not only blew his Minireg, but also his LPR, sending ~800 PSI directly into all the internals. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, he was using a VL-200! During the hour or so that the marker functioned, he was chopping quite a bit.

One of the more depressing things I've seen, sadly.

Sorry, just sounded like something to laugh at.

C02 is a liquid, and when shot fast, gets cold. Think about it, do you want to have a cold liquid running through your solenoid, or just air?

Which one do you think would be better?

You sure it isn't the kid who already toasted one solenoid with CO2 that shows up at my shop?

Haha, I dunno. Could be.

All I know is I almost felt sorry for him!
Emphasis on the "almost".
