Whats the deal with scopes... what kind of scope is good for a paintball gun? I have a spyder xtra, would the hopper get in the way? On a Tippmann custom does the hopper get in the way?

Scopes are next to worthless in a paintball gun, except maybe to get a better look at something. Paintballs are like the muskets they used back in the revolutionary war, very inaccurate out to a distance due to the ball shape of the paint and wind and all that ****..

a one w/ 2x or no magniffication or a red dot sight work well. I cant aim down the side of the barrel and i think it is stupid to do so because you dont really know exactly where your marker is pointing only know what general direction it is going to go. Even regular sights like on the Tippmann guns improve my accuracy 75%. The only thing people do with aiming down the side, well they really dont aim, they just look in the general direction, then the fire a string of 5 balls. thats why some people spaz out about paintballing "being so in-accurate" its cause they just look in the general direction of where there going to go. I have a Phantom pump w/ 14" nickel plated barrel and a red dot sight. its awsome. the red dot sight was $5 at wal-mart. should you aim of the top-right hand side of barrel, middle, bottom or in between them? "the bottom right tip pointed at a lot of things"

you should get one even for you spyder because it totally eliminates the problem of "what is the marker really pointed at". the only problem you have now is the in-accuracy of paintballs/ your barrel.

this post is a grammar teacher's wost nightmare

Just practice with it. Aiming down the side is very accurate once you get the feel down.

the scope on my gun works decently but i still aim down the barrel
i would have to agree that they are really usefull to get a better look at things

ya, i have a 3X7X20 scope, its definitely most useful for seeing off in the distance, leaves rustling, barrels sticking out, it gives you a much longer range of vision, and, at least withmy custom 98, and my nytt stykk barrel, if i set it to 3X20, and set the cross hairs a bit above the target, the scope is very accurate for me, PLUS the raised scope rings allow me to use the mini sight on top of the gun for close range stuff.

And any way scopes are great not just for seeing. You know that your shot is going to go some where near the cross hairs.

I use a red dot site and with my J&J Preformance barrel I can snipe a target over 200 feet away in one shot! When my friend saw me do that he was amazed!

With scopes you have magnifcaton which will make you think your target is closer than it really is. Aiming down the side of the barrel is something that I will not do because it doesn't feel real.(Im not a gun toting teenage physo thats going to shoot up my school though:eek: ) Using a red dot site give the marker a real gun feel while helps in proveing accurcy. Scopes=useless. R.D sites= feeling real and better accuracy.

If you have more brain capacity, you may think and say to yourself it looks closer cause it is magnified.

Besides being good for spotting targets at a distance, my scope looks real bad-*** mounted atop of the lapco sight rail on my tippmann 98.
