ive bought the tippmann x chamber for my 98c ( i believe it is the CMI one) and i can't get the vertical adaptor/valve assembly to fit into the gun.
I have pretty much botched the install, i first twisted the adaptor in too far and it did damage the top of the threads slightly, so i don't know if it will work now.
The problem is where the adaptor attackhes to the valve. It will not sit right. the valve is flush with the side of the marker, but i cant push the adaptor/valve section into the the little cut out. (The part where the old feedline entered i mean, hard to explain without pics)

Don't know if it still works, but i need to get it in to try.
Any suggestions?

It should work fine with the messed up threads as long as you loctite it. At first, my X-chamber didn't fit right in the part where it's supposed to. Ignore the fact that it doesn't fit, and just put it in, it will fit.

Any suggestions? ok i had a very hard time installing my x chamber so im right there with ya pal, i feel your pain.

you said you screwed the VA in too far? my problem was not being able to screw it in far enough, even with the valve in a table vice and a using a crecent wrench, after about one and a half turns it really started to put up a fight. first time i tried it i didnt use a crescent wrench and i ended up bending my VA and chipping a chunk off my valve.

this may be obvious to you (it should be) but i over looked it in my haste to put the thing together. the crescent wrench is supposed to be used on this end here..

not on the other end, it was a stupid mistake on my end which resulted in a severally bent VA and a cracked valve :( ..

the only reason i can think for the VA & valve not sitting right in the gun would be either you bent your VA while screwing it in or you didnt screw the VA in far enough. im not sure how many times mine went around but there should only be about 2 threads showing, 2-3 i think; it might say in the directions. my threads werent too pretty by the time i was done with the whole thing and as daman said, as long as you get some loctite in there and you still have some threads to work with you should be okay. also just to clarify, did you wreck the threads on the VA or the valve? and remember not to screw the two valve screws in too tight when youre putting the thing back together, you want them tool tight but not too tool tight; thats what the tippmann guy told me over the phone.

good luck and let me know how it goes man!

thanks for the (detailed) replies guys. I have since gotten it installed correctly. I called tippmann on tuesday morning.

Aparently you are not supposed to screw it in until only 1 thread is showing. The guy on the phone said to turn it out 360 degree's (about 2-3 threads showing) and that did the trick.

I when i did it at first, i bent the lip of the threads on the VA, not the threads themselves, and only stripped the top of the threads on the valve where the metal of the VA scraped it.

It seemed to be working fine when i had it going, but my airtank pin broke and so i have no air to do an extencive test.

Overall, i think i got lucky that i didn't completely screw it up.

For future reference I think ill write up a more detailed guide on how to install properly, as I have heard of and/or talked to people that have buggered up their own.

WHEN INSTALLING, LEAVE 2-3 THREADS SHOWING, NOT ONE AS THE GUIDE SAYS. IT WILL NOT FIT OTHERWISE
