Well, unlike football, you don't have to have set positions. You can put people anywhere you want, and have them do anything you want. Most of these would result in getting your *** kicked though. One of the more common setups you see is a front player (the guy in the middle who goes for the flag and supports the tapes), two tapes (one on each side, usually shooting sideways across the field for better angles), and two backs (covering the fronts and tapes, preventing them from being bunkered, hopefully getting people while they move, hopefully getting people during the break, and most importantly, giving information to the guys up front who can't see much of anything.)
Where you place these guys is dependent on how aggressive you are, and each players skills in different areas.

It depends on if you're talking about 3-man, 5-man, 7-man, or 10-man. They all have totally different position uses.

back players are extremely important...just have them sweetspot (dunno if thats the real name for it) which means they basically stand up and slowly walk around laying down cover fire...keep the fronts players of the opposite team down and your front players can move up...

mid players just basically have a lesser role of sweetspotting which focuses more and eliminating then keep people down.

front players just move up and try to bunker/eliminate/or just take the field...they rely on support from back and mid....(mid moves up slowly once the front players have secured more field)

yes theyre are some special ones i wont get into but the joy of speedball is u change from one position to another whenever u want...if your front just stop advancing and hold your position etc.

so a left tape player, would just look out the right side of his bunker and get a good angle on all the bunkers on the right side of the feild? Or i have i got it backwards?
