I 'm just south of lexington. We play at war zone in junction city. best field i've been able to find and cheap to play. all day air $5 paint 55-60 per case, or byop byoa. Field fee $5 waved if you buy paint and air there. It is nice to see some ppl from KY on here. As to my team we have a scenerio team "Ravenous " That does MXS events and has a blast but have yet to get to any tourneys. BTW Shoto which Georgetown field do you play?? I've been known to play at Paintball of the Bluegrass, not enough that anyone would know me but it is a nice field. We played KrissKros field for a while but those guys are so flaky and have basically gone belly up now though they still claim that the store will re-open with a nice indoor field. That would be nice but i'll believe it when i see it. Still a guy could hope It'd be nice to have a field in lexington.

Yeah, im hoping to get like 3/4 of the team together and maybe play by sunday. It'll be @ paintball games of the bluegrass (prolly). I wanna see the regulars freak when they see my newly aquired front playing style (agressive = less paint =) )

Speaking of Kentucky players...
This is a blatent plug forPaintball Games of the Bluegrass. We just put up a new forum dedicated to PGB players, and players in and around kentucky. Basically so you don't come here and ask "are there any Kentucky players around?" It is completely free (I've noticed a couple forums require memberships now?) and there are no banner ads or advertisements of any kind.
Like I said the forum is very new, but it will grow. It is at www.paintballbluegrass.com/forum

I am from Lexington. We have a small group of players who play woodsball on some wooded farm land owned by one of the guy's in-laws in N. Ky. We play there once a month or so. We have been playing as a group for about 3 months now.
We take all the precautions we can to ensure everyone has the safest time possible:
All our guns are chronoed at our local paint and air supplier before each outing.
We enforce mask and barrel plug areas and use.
All new players are given a quick lesson in the safe use and operation of each gun they play with. All the guys who have played before give the lessons, helping to enforce their remembering of the safety rules.
Do any of you have trouble with people saying they will be there, then backing out the day of the outing? We get 12 guys saying they will be there, then end up playing 3-3 or 3-2.
Sorry, I really digressed. Anyway. We have a small group in Lexington.

Oh yeah ppl back out of coming to play all the time. Usually for one of the following reasons
1. Paintballers are by nature a bit unreliable and tempermental
2. "Ballers are often young and or married/dating and therefore have another person to make plans for them which although unknown to them are vastly more important than the plans they themselves have made. (this actually only applies to male players, all males actually)
3 They are not sufficently addicted to the sport and were just humoring you to avoid the whining and ranting you would have given had they said "no i have something else to do" (this is not to say tht they did not deserve the rant because we all know they do )
4 They spent their paint money on another vice (drugs, booze, the opisite sex, school, etc.)
5 They spend paint money on the coolest new upgrade for their gun without thinking that it would mean they could not use said upgrade.
6 you are a dork and they don't want to play with you.

Well, these guys aren't paintballers yet. So, I will give them benefit of the doubt and chalk one up to fear of the unknown. One guy, however, has played before, professed his addiction & actually chose the date we played this time a month ago, then, lo and behold, he had something he had to do that he forgot about. My guess, is since the last time we played, we have all improved our games and guns and he felt he wouldn't be god's gift to woodsball if he tried to play this time. (He's very competitive).
As for your other ithem:
"1. Paintballers are by nature a bit unreliable and tempermental" - Some are, some aren't. There are differences in every group. The main 5 we have will play everytime, no questions.
"2. Ballers are often young and or married/dating and therefore have another person to make plans for them which although unknown to them are vastly more important than the plans they themselves have made. (this actually only applies to male players, all males actually)" - this is the "Better-Half" Syndrome, we all suffer, I agree.
"3 They are not sufficently addicted to the sport and were just humoring you to avoid the whining and ranting you would have given had they said "no i have something else to do" (this is not to say tht they did not deserve the rant because we all know they do )" - I, for one, would rather they just say, no thanks. I would never ask again.
"4 They spent their paint money on another vice (drugs, booze, the opisite sex, school, etc.)" - always a possibility.
"5 They spend paint money on the coolest new upgrade for their gun without thinking that it would mean they could not use said upgrade." - all the guys that backed out were being supplied markers, so this didn't apply this time.
"6 you are a dork and they don't want to play with you." - this is by far and away the best argument you have provided. I have no doubt that this is probably the case.
We will be heading to Warzone in the future, hope to catch you there.
LOL, hopefully in late fall early winter I'll be able to get up that way and play a game or two. I suffer from that better half syndrome and right now my next closest possibility of a game is the end of the month or early November.

I must respond to #6 my self and clarify that intended no offense and was merely conveing personal experiance. hence it should have read "i am a dork and they don't want to play with me." I am glad to see that you seem to have taken no offense.
As to playing at warzone Hope to see you there. My group plays there on 1st and 3rd Sundays typically. It is based on the pay schedule at the printing company where we all used to work. Pay every other wednesday play the following weekend. so you've got even odds that we will be there.

Absolutely NO offense taken. If you can't joke around, life would suck.
I can understand the pay thing, 15th and last day for me. I try to influence the dates based on that, but sometime I just have to bury some in a paint pod in the back yard. Just hope I can remember where I put it. Was it three steps left and one forward or two steps out then five left.... dang it. Oh well, one of these days I will find all those pods and be rich. LOL
Are you going to try for the E-town Zombie Fest??
CPAPaintballer
10-31-2002, 09:39 AM
Just wanted to pass along a few things:
1. Zombiefest in E-Town was a blast. My first "Big" Game and it was very fun. I wll go back.
2. A few of us are trying to develop a network of paintball players in the Lexington, KY area. We would like to develop a database of players so we can have outings, trade information, find an extra player on short notice, take groups of players to "BIG" games that know each other and have played together, etc.. The typical things groups do.
That said, the LAPB (Lexington Area Paintball) Group is planning an outing at Warzone in Danville, KY on Saturday November 16th, 2002. We plan on arriving at the field around 11 and starting play at Noon.
If you are interested in this event, please post here or send an email to LAPBGroup@yahoo.com.

Kryptonite Canyon is in somerset ky. AS of now it has a spool field, an airball field, and a top gun field. I think they may be working on more fields for pra. If you prefer the woods they do play on other wooded land. They play every weekend. They have a paint, air, and food. They have a tourney or two about every month, and big sceneario games every once and a while. The home team is Kryptonite. Overall it is a pretty nice place, the guys have a good knowledge of guns, and on any given day you can find a lot of different kinds of players. Go to kryptonitepaintball.com fo all the details, its a good site.

yepo, havn't been on this thread in a while... anyways
i think the EKU team is going to setup an airball field on campus and have a day for students to come out and play; no field fee, free HPA, and paint @ 48 or so a case.
Of course we were 'sposed to go practice in london last weekend and it was called off for crappy weather... so this is just an idea i think they're playing around with
if interested i can try and find out more; im me @:
