What about pirahnas? are they simalar to spyders? and i saw this black dragun gun thats seems to be good deal. Anyway great newbie advice, i personnaly really could have used something like this in my newbie days. I wish I had have known how much BE sucks before me and my nooby friends all bought them. ALL of our guns broke over time, because of the bad quality and because we didnt realize how important cleaning is. I was the only one brave enough to take apart my gun and clean it, and thats probably why my guns always work well.

Noggins: Piranhas are pretty much identical to a Spyder and there is no real difference, other than a few minor ones that were supposedly "bugs" in Kingman's guns that were fixed in the Piranhas. However, it's also said that Kingman corrected these minor bugs in their new guns like the Xtra as well, and to tell the truth, I honestly can't find any in my Shutter, with the possible exception of the rubber micro-line which IMO should be a steel braided hose. As for the Black Dragun, my field owner has one that hehas totally tricked out. It performs so well it's scary. They seem to be great guns and accept Spyder parts, the only problem is the stock grip frame is plastic. Bo fixed that however, by adding a Storm fame instead. Now it's the Electro-Dragun of Doom. The Black Dragun also seems to be a good buy, but once again, the trigger is plastic, as is the grip frame I believe. It knows only one mode, Semi-auto, but man can you get the paint out with it! You can "fan" the double trigger easily and really get the double trigger action going......but like I said, I'm wary of the plastic. For $200, I might as well chip in another $50 or so and get a Flash, which seems to be a much more solid gun.........but the plain ol' dragun would make a great marker to start with. Add the following and you'll have my field owner's gun (he prefers it to his Impulse).

Rear cocking delrin bolt
Rear velocity adjuster
32* Shark drop
12" CP barrel
Mako Storm Frame
Reg of your choice

And you'll have a pretty fierce gun!. Kinda expensive though, and for the same price almost you could buy Piranha's ProE, which looks to be the best electro blowback out there. Has a Storm frame, Pure Energy reg, big drop forward, and all sorts of neat features. Usually around $350.

Maybe the flash is a bit more durable, but as it stands the black dragun is the highest performing gun i can afford. i guess i could get all the upgrades over time. I want to get a better performing gun than my stingray or my pump Trracer, which I bought both used for a VERY good price. Since I play with people with good guns a lot (impulse, cockers, shocker, and defiants) i want a fast shoooting gun, i've done suprisingly good agaist some of these guys with my pump, but pumps are horible guns to play speed ball with as you only get to take one shot before you have to get back in cover to dodge all 12 balls they've shot at you, and the stingray bursts balls and has bad accuracy, along with being quite unreliable I've been bunkered twice cause it would not recock) im no tourney player so i'm not going to spend a lot of cash. When Im not at the field playing agaist the "all americans" or whatever they're called i play with some friends who all have BEs (DO NOT BUY!). So i guess im going with the black dragun. thanx for the upgrade list that will be helpful. I guess if a part breaks I can just replace them with spyder ones. As for the plastic gripframe, do you think it will actually break? I have doubts about the quality because of the low price. All the reviews seem to have no complaints.

Well, personally the way I look at it is you can take your chance on the Dragun, but if it breaks then you've wasted all your money, or you can spend a little more and get a Flash which is made by a very reputable company and has a solid construction. Iy's much less likely to break.....but since you're on a budget, here's what I'd reccomend. Buy the stock Dragun and upgrade it. Between the Dragun, a CP barrel, an exp chamber and a revvy (you will need one if you want a fast shooting gun, get a 12V) you're looking at about $210. The grip frame should last until you get a new one (like a Storm) and then you can add that and a few more minor upgrades. Think you might also need a Vert. adapter for the Dragun to put the exp chamber on, but that's about it. Well, that's just my take on things, but you WILL need a revvy, so that's $50 right there.

So I suppose im better off with an upgraded Dragun? I live in Prince edward Island so I Will have to order parts for anything if it breaks. Are you sure the storm grip frame fits? And also, how much does a really cheap HPA system cost? I should get that it eliminates the need for an X chamber and it is quieter and more consistent. I Play just as much wood as i play speedball so i don't want it to break. I will have to do without upgrades for now like a revvy, barrell, o grip frame. Maybe i should look lfor some used stuff.

If you start with an upgraded Dragun, you're looking at a gun that won't shoot as fast as an electro, but it WILL shoot very nicely, especially after you add a Storm frame, and then it WILL have speed, plus all the other upgrades you threw on it. I KNOW the Storm fits it, my field owner shoots his Dragun with some NICE stuff on it and has totally tricked it out. He prefers it to his Impulse. Here's what I'd reccomend in the $200 range for your Dragun.

Dragun (about $100)
12" CP barrel color of your choice ($30-$40 if you're lucky)
and then it's pretty much a decision of are you gonna buy the revvy now or later? If you want the revvy, buy the 12V for when you get the Storm. Bam, there's the other $50 gone. You have $10 left to pay for shipping. Throw on an exp chamber though, asthat's almost a neccesity. That's another $30 or so. So there's $230. For $20, you can have that Flash....BUT.....here's anotehr option I just encountered.
For about $200 you can buy a Black Dragun. It comes with the following:
Electro Semi auto only frame
LP chamber
Drop forward
Regulator and gauge
(I wonder if that's an exp chamber or gas-thru it's got)
rear cocking venturi bolt
Tail velo adjuster
Flush cocking system (no need for beaver tail)
Vert feed

It's basically a pretty good buy, except for one thing, and it's a big one.
The grip panels are plastic, but more importantly, the trigger is. I don't think DYE stickys are gonna fit it, BUT here's what you could do.
When you get the money, go ahead and buy the Storm. You get a nice grip (though you still have plastic grip panels) and you get the modes that we all know and love that aren't allowed. Take the Dragun grip (it's got Spyder holes so it should fit nicely on a Spyder) and sell it as an electro grip. You won't get but maybe $50-$100 on it, but it will help towards that Storm. Or you can buy something sweet to go with your Storm.

One last note, it's supposedly ABS plastic, so I've heard it IS pretty tough to break, and it IS lightweight, but I'm still a bit wary of any plastic part on a ppaintball gun.

Thanx for the help with the Black dragun. by the way teh one im talkin about is the PI E-1 black dragun. Is there other kinds? By the way dont use soap and water on THERMAL lenses. You only really need thermal lenses in colder weather. I personally would not suggest tippys to newbies either, although i do kind of like them. They are kind of hard to field strip. by the way if you never take apart your gun and clean\lube it then YOU have obviously not been paintballing too long. Tippys are pretty durable but it is smart to clean em anyways. I also have to agree that most tippmann upgrades are overpriced and monopolized. I think i might take a pirannha over a spyder as well but both are pretty even. Just spyders are easier to find. Spyder quality probably is going down because the guns are being bought so rapidly.

anyway on to the black dragun i think ill buy the E-1 black dragun (best one?) and get the upgrades in this order
cp barrel>12v revvy>storm frame>nitro tank>reg.
think that is the best way to do it?

Ive been playing for a while and have some skill (i can beat most noobs no problem but im not that great). Ive been playing with my pump and ray till now. but playing with a trracer against a shocker in a speedball field against somone who plays in all the major tourneys is next to impossible. I didnt know there was another kind of black dragun. Have any places where i could find this non-electro black dragun? Ive only seen the PI E-1 Black dragun till now and its 199$ american everywhere i look. I dont think ill be getting a storm frame till next year anyway and might not get it if the stock is not so bad (but everyone says the stock is plastic and crappy) a storm frame is like 150$ i think so non-electro dragun+ storm frame= 250$ and ive solved the guns major flaw. And like that other guys said i could look for a used impulse or something but that would probably be 300-350$

I just seperated these posts into a new thread from the eairlier, "so you want to buy a gun" thread.
