Do it if you think your ready. We can't judge for you, because we've never seen you play. But go to the field with a lot of experienced players and see how you do.

what gun you use shouldn't decide if you play a tournament or not.

If you are serious about playing and want to play competatively then you should start whenever you can. If you have a group of people interested in playing tournaments, then look into local tournaments and start practicing as a team. There are a a few stickies around the forums on things you can work on as a team.

Go in ready to get whupped up on but also be ready to take in everything around you. Watch opponants games and learn from what they do and how they play.

its what ever your up for tourneys open up all kinds of new opportunities for you as a paintball player and it never to early to get some experience in tourneys even if you come in dead last and you don't play another tourney for along time at least you will know what to expect. I didn't play a tourney until about a year and half from when i started playing so its entirely up to you. don't be intimidated by other teams that my have more experience then you do. try looking for a newcomers tourney or young guns those are best for new tourney players.

Yes, go out and play tourenys. There is something totally different abotu torneys. You can play recball for 10 years and not be as good as a 2 year tourney player. Recball players react oto situations totalyl differently than tourney players. In recball if you put someone in theri bunker you might just keep shooting that bunker, in tourneyball you put one guy in his bunker wrap and do it to another and move.

That was just an example, but there is no better training than experience. Who care s if you go out there a nsuck it up. Atleast you can say that you went out and played your heart out against some of the best in the region, and not say that you took out 5 of your friends in a recball game. I've played in 4 tourneys, and I look at how I used to play. I think of how sad it was when I thought I was good, and now that I see how I played, I was terrible. I know though, that its changing now, a team came up toi me that played ultimate maddenss, and their captain told me, you saved your team. You shot me when I was goign for your captain, if I'd gotten him it would have been over. After I shot him out I got the flag and the last guy was shot out. We took the game 100-0.

What I'm saying is, if you don't care to be shot, and if you eventually want to be one of the top players in your region (or atleast want to play tourneyball on a serious regional scale) go for it. If you have a reiable gun and money go and play. You will get better even if you get mowed for the first few times.
