to make a long story short here goes. i ordered a new style AA barrel and was told they came with inserts like the freak, so i ordered a black back, green front, and .689 insert. I mainly use pmi premium paint, and might try marbalizers. I also the choice to use whatever paint i want whenever i play so multile inserts are not important. So when i found out that the AA doesn't take inserts and for a spyder thread (i have a piranha) it comes with only a .693 bore. Will using this with my usually paint cause me any problems ie. balls rolling out, air inefficiancy? What i am thinking now is just getting a single freak barrel with maybe an extra insert, and an extra tip. Oh ya the AA is 14", and i would get the freak w/14" AA tip, and 12" freak tip. Have to add i'm using co2 now, but switching to nitro this week.

who sold you that first barrel and screwed you? I would raise a stink about that...it just isn't cool.
I have an AA, but I have used a freak system and honestly was not that impressed. It was louder than my AA, and the accuracy did not improve. My friend (who has one) gets about the same shots per tank. Personally, I feel that paintballs are not made well enough yet, and that a difference of .001 (do you know how small that is?? Look at an inch on a ruler, and imagine dividing it 1000 times....we are talking about distances less than a sheet of paper here) will not make all that much difference. Look at a paintball sometime, and look at the inconsistantcies in the paintball. I would suggest going to the automag.org sight and reading Tom's tech tips about testing barrels and paint. I think after reading this, you will see why the freak system doesn't really make that much sense.

I'd do what vaypourus says. If you don't want the AA anymore get your money back and get another barrel with a smaller bore size. But if you don't do that try to find a large bore paint that you like for the AA. Personally, I probably wouldn't try and put the marbs through the AA. Marbs are small bore and not recomended for .693 barrels;)

i haven't actually paid for it yet, it's just they are giving me the best price by far on a single freak barrel. the problem with that is they want me to pay the fee to ship the other barrel back. the boggest paint that i will use is pmi premium.

here is what i think will be my final decision. i'm gonna get a single freak barrel with 14" AA green front, black back, and a .689 insert. I'm also thinking of getting a 12" freak front in black as well as an extra insert (prob .687). What do you think?

If I were going to do what you are doing then what you just said would be exactly what I would do. I think you have made a good choice nucl3arboNg. Go for it and good luck!
