I have been playing paintball for about a year with a PMI traccer (pump) and an old stingray1. I was thinking about buying a PI E-1 black dragun, but i recently saw a used automag with a proteam powerfeed, 12v VL 2000, bob long stainless steel barrel, and a ceramic barrel for 300$ (canadian, thats about 187 american).
Anyway i just wanted to know:
How fast it is:
What the accuracy would be like with those barrels:
Does it run on Co2? If so, what will i need to get to use it?:
How much is a nitro tank and what should i get if i go with that instead of Co2?:
What barrel threads does it have?:
What other upgrades should i get?:
I have lots of Pball knowledge but not about automags because i dont know anyone who has one. Please only give me answers if you know what your talkin about and remember that i am buying in the 400$ dollar (canadian) range.
I have shot both mags and the black dragun. Personally I hate mags. Not to flame but they just don't feel good to me. I shot the black dragun at a field about a week or two ago and was truly impressed. It was very accurate and fast for the price. I would go w/ that.

Yeah i thought the handle and stuff on them is pretty funny lookin and its like 100$ to get a new one. I would like to hear some more opinions though. Remember that this mag is gonna cost me 100$ less then the dragun and comes with 2 barrels, profeed, and revvy.

1. As fast as you can pull the trigger, stock 68 valves can do 16bps no shootdown, though you'll be hard to get that without a hyperframe.
2. Accuracy with those barrels would depend on the paint that you used.
3. Mags run on both Co2 and HPA, though to get the full 16bps you will need a HPA tank. All you need is a bottom line, mags have in built regulator, to install HPA just get a screw-in pre-set tank, and your laughing.
4. Which tank might be a better question in the air forum, though you wont need anything extra to put in on a mag. Possibly a gas-thru grip or fore-grip so you have something to hold onto besides the grip.
5. It uses automag spectific barrels, they have a twist and lock system. You can use cocker or spyder barrels. The only mags to use cocker barrel threads are one of the proteams (though im not sure about that) one or summoin, they have had a special body made for them.
6. Besides HPA mags do benefit greatly from double triggers, AGD make one called the intelliframe, which means that you can link it to your revvy hopper, so when you pull the trigger the hopper spins to make sure that you have a ball to fire. A revvy hopper is also a must for a mag because they dont have enough kick-back to josstle the balls. If you want to get an even higher ROF you might want to get the ReTro valve. This is an upgrade from AGD that makes your trigger "reactive" which means, for example, you pull the trigger with 4lb for force it kicks back with 8lbs. Also the ReTro valve has been tested to 26bps without anyshoot down, though you'll have a paint blender at that rate because balls cant feed that fast.

ooooh fast. I think i will buy the mag cuz the black dragun is just a spyder with a half decent frame. I think ill buy the mag cuz its 100$ cheaper and comes with all that other stuff. I will then save money to buy a nitro tank, retro valve, and nicer trigger. I will post a forum up to figure out what tank to get in the air systems section.

MAG ALL THE WAY BABY! I don't even know the company that makes the Black Dragun (that's a bad sign). But, WHOOAAAAA nelly, slow down with the upgrades there! Do you have any idea how much the nitro, ReTro Valve, and the new frame will cost? First order of business is to get nitro. Mags HATE Co2! Go with a 47 or 48 ci/3000 psi STEEL nitro tank (try Pure Energy by PMI, cheap and great performers, I use a 68/3k by P.E.). That way, it will only set you back maybe 70 bucks, and that way all you need is some macroline and you're set! If you feel that you want a bigger and better nitro tank in the future, you could always keep that one as a backup or sell it for like 50 bucks or so. But, you'll probably have to save a LONGGGGG time to get the RT Valve and the frame. The valve is around 250 bucks (American) and the new frame will be anywhere from 70-135 dollars (American). A good nitro tank (fiber wrapped, 68/3000) will set you back about 200 dollars (all prices american)...thats possibly 585 bucks...eesh! But yeah, buy the cheap steel nitro tank, and some macroline (get it installed at a proshop if you can't figure it out)...then kick some *****!

Ok i think im gonna get the nitro and macroline hoses for the first upgrade. Do you think it is worth the money to get the ReTro valve and trigger frame or should i just start saving for a new gun instead. I think im gonna get the nitro and leave it at that for a while. Im no tourney player and i dont need to spend that much money on a gun, nor do i have $800 canadian. I may not even have the 300$ for the gun for like a month. Thanx for all the help though i am definatly gonna get the mag.
