Ok, well I looked in the ION vs ____ thread and i didn't see it there. I would like to know what 2 guns are better. I NEED Proof tho because just someone saying ION or Spyder isn't going to help at all. If this thread needs to be moved, by all means go ahead.

Spyder link (http://www.paintballgi.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=522&HS=1)

ION link (http://www.xtremez.com/paintball/product_information.asp?number=GNSION&dept=200&cmpid=SPC-pbh&sku=gnsion)

IMO the 2 guns look like they both have good qulites.

Ion by far. Although some seem to like the rocking trigger I personally think it is over rated because you have to spread your fingers farther apart than normal and you can pull a normal trigger just as fast. Secondly the break beam eyes on the Ion are much better at preventing chops than the ACS, because I believe the ACS bolt can still pinch balls when a misfeed does occure. Secondly Ion does have a stock reg, where as new electra does not. Ion is smaller and lighter. The spool valve design will have a lot less kick than the blow back design of the electra but some may argue if thats a big enough difference to include (but in my opinion it is). The electra does look very good but my conclusion is that for the money the ion is far better overall.

The spyder is a blowback. That should be the only reason there, but I'll elaborate for you if you'd like. The spyder doesn't have eyes (The ACS doesn't do its job all the time) and the Kingman Rocking Trigger isn't what it's made out to be. If that's a reg on the electra, kingman regs aren't the best. Keep in mind that I said the electra's a blowback. That means it'll have more kick and it is louder (personal preference there).

Comparing the smaller things, I'd have to say the ION is more durable, a better reg, better trigger, better feedneck, and so on.

Is that ellaborated enough?

Personally, I think the Ion is the mecca of low-cost, high-end guns.

O one thing I forgot, which I think deserves new post and not edit, if you are unable to get hpa then the electra will handle co2 far better if that is all you can get. The ion will work just fine with an antisiphoned co2 tank but there is still the risk of getting liquid co2 in the solenoid and having major problems on your hands.

I heard that the rocking trigger is horrible, and the ION is a high-end for a low cost, so Im gonna say ION... But, is the rocking trigger really that bad?

Never trust what you hear. I bet you don't know 2 people personally with a rocking trigger...

as for what gun I would get... Electra. As for my reasons.

1. Like no one has any yet and it would be pretty cool to be one of the first people you know to own one.

2. They are very sexy, ions don't come in a fade :P (Atleast that I know of)

3. I love Spyders with a passion...

4. You can get so many different upgrades from many different companies so you can be unique.

Ion.

2 words with a hyphen in the middle: Electro-pneumatic.

Not as bad as some of the reviews made it out to be. i can walk it the same way i walk my ion and it feels pretty good. Seems faster than the stock trigger frame, too (sounds faster... i notice the sound more now that we've also got ions). No chops, either. Like none. Ever. And all he had on it was a z-boarded egg, hpa & CP barrel. Stock everything else.

But if i were to choose between a whole spyder with a rocking trigger that costs nearly as much as the ion, i'd choose ion. i'd only recommend the rocking trigger frame for someone with a mech spyder & a spare $120.

Thanks nerdcore. Yeah if it was my choice, I'd go for the ion too.

Because it is a blowback is a very poor reason. here is my take on the subject.

The ion has a better stock reg (not the best ever, but good enough). The ion is also very light and small. It is not a "high end gun" like so many say. how do you define high end, vs low end? Lots of gray area. Anyway, the electra is more upgradable, but the ion starts out at a higher upgraded point.

I would choose the ion myself, but not because it's the cat's meow. I don't care what you think when you look at me, I just hope you do it through paint covering your goggles.

I've had it with blow-backs (even though I own one lol). The ION may not be 'high-end', but it's more 'high-end' than a Spyder.

Electropneumatic > Blowback

Pick a day... it always will. And there are already plenty of things out for the Ion, so I wouldn't worry about upgrades. Only thing left is boards... which several are on the way :)

How is that? Seriiously, it is preference. There is no real performance difference. Does the ball shoot father? Faster? More accurate? Ah...no.

Try alot smoother to shoot (what kick?), and 500 balls more efficent per tank or more. Can shoot faster too, spyders are mechanically capped at around 20 bps, Ions are capped about 28 or so.

Accuracy is not determined by the gun, and neither is distance... but the Ion is more efficent, smoother to shoot, and has far more upgrade potential (in terms of performance) than any spyder.

Actually, they are capped in the high 30s with full cycles and in the 40s-50s with some half cycles.

I have yet to see one do over 18, and I can gaurentee that it would kick like a mad horse at that speed.

full cycles being the key term there. a karni can cycle 54, it just can't do it without massive shootdown. the same is true with a spyder, after about 18 bps it #1: becomes a blender. and 2: has massive shootdown. it might be able to cycle it, but it can't shoot it. an ion can.

Umm, aren't Ions capped at 17 bps?

Mechanically capped usually involves cycles. I was correcting him. I never said anyone could reach that speed, just merely stated the facts.

electronically. with a new board they will go well beyond that. somewhere in the low-mid 20s, mid-upper 20s with a QEV.

1. I doubt no one has bought the electra yet, and if that is a good reason for you, you should be smacked. Don't buy a marker just so you can be the only one that has it. Would you get a blade turbo over a timmy because no one has a blade?

2. IONS already have aftermarket bodies that can be re annoed for fades.

3. Good for you. I used to love spyders also, until I shot and played with a high end.

4. IONs have alot of upgrades already, but have less to upgrade, in form of parts. Many companies are already making products. ;)

I wouldn't necessarily go that far...

As for the people who are talking about which gun can shoot the fastest without shutdown. Who really cares? The ION has a cap at 17 and most people ramp on it, anyways, because they can't even walk to 17. Also, the PSP mode did bring down the 20 bps hype everyone was putting out.

I shot an Electra at my field when I was reffing. I told the kid I needed to check it for bounce, but really I just wanted to see how the Rocking Trigger was. I was less than impressed.

Get the ION for reasons that have already been stated.
