CYCLONE OPERATION DETAILED BREAKDOWN

Okay so here is how it all goes down. When you fire the marker air goes by the path of least resistence. So at first there's no blowback gas, it all goes straight up to thru the CVX channels and powertube. Once it hits the paintball there's resistence and air can start to build up pressure with the hammer (rear bolt).

With the A-5 in particular there is a small exhaust hole on the side of the powertube. This is in the open area of the powertube when the valve is installed. So when air goes thru the channels... no air yet going to cyclone. It only gets air when blowback gas finally starts to build! That's very important and crucial to the timing of the Cyclone (quite ingenious).

Any ways the blowback gas will both shove the hammer back, but also shove the Cyclone piston forward.

Now as you can see from this animation the yellow portion is the gas source. Here's a breakdown of each individual part.

2-shaded green: Ratchet - Part Number 02-53
Blue: Feeder Axel - Part Number 02-49
Red: Feeder Ratchet Spring - Part Number 02-50
Light Blue: Plunger U-ring - Part Number02-63

So as the gas makes the way through the air fittings and into the shaft the U-ring expands. Holds air to make the plunger move forward. Think of it like you're sitting on a skateboard holding an umbrella. Gust of 50mph wind comes by… you're cruising! Same thing here.

As the plunger moves forward the Ratchet swivels around. The Feeder Axel doesn't move because the Ratchet Spring holds it in place. But once the Ratchet is all the way forward, by this time all the air is now pushing the ball out the barrel. So the air vents and allows the Plunger Spring to pull back. And back comes the Ratchet.

The Ratchet grabs onto the Feeder Axel and pulls it. As it does this the Cyclone Star will begin to spin. That process will chamber the next paintball into the A-5's breech.

Hope this helps. Any questions or comments feel free to leave.

Good to see you Meph, it certainly has been a while.

It goes without saying this is headed for the ultimate, very useful indeed.

Sweet animation. That explains a lot. I had a basic idea, but that made everything clear.

that animation and explanation are perfect. great job and thanks a lot. i have one question tho. does anyone kno the release date of the cyclone for the 98's yet?

it is also a good idea to make this a sticky.

I always forget what they tell me, I want to say June (this month) but more than likely I'd expect July is what they said. Last time I was in the booth and even asked was the Coram big game. That's like 3 weeks ago. So no wonder I can't recall.

It's come out in a month that starts with J and in the summer! I'll put it that way.

Pricetag of around 60-75 dollars.

Good job using Macromedia Flash, its a great program to use, great job, Flash is a very good program for this type of loops, I 've used Flash at schools, really easy, yet you can make great models with

It's in the Stickies smart one. So technically this is a good thing, it means he was actually reading through the stickies before posting.

One question though.... If the cyclone/blowback doesn't actually start until the air meets resistance by the ball, why does it work perfectly with no barrel and no paint, just simply air and dry firing?

(I'd appreciate a PM with it... But a post here would be ok as well I guess...)

I also agree that this being revived was a GOOD thing, showing that some people ACTUALLY READ FIRST.... So good job!

And meph, what program do you use?

well yes...true, but i dont know if the stickies say not to revive a year old thread. his post wasnt useful to the subject, so there shouldnt have been a revival. although the person above me has a good question, so i guess its too late now.

anyone know what is changed on the x7's cyclone to make it faster

pbmike1888
12-20-2006, 06:35 PM
since the cyclone uses the air to cycle, even in stock form it will shoot however fast you can make your marker shoot. i tihnk the only difference between thr cyclone and the upgraded one is its more durable for those higher speeds. im not sure on this though.

NoelyDeezNutz
12-20-2006, 07:01 PM
^^^ wrong... if your marker is shooting at 25bps, the cyclone WILL NOT KEEP UP IN STOCK FORM....

my question, on the diagram of the a-5, why on earth is the ball shoved into the barrel, and then just waits until gas comes??? Is that truly how it works?

Oh yeah the x7's cyclone has a built in exhaust valve....

pbmike1888
12-21-2006, 06:56 AM
how is the cyclone capped? the vortex mod, how does it make it faster....doesnt it just swap out the plastic ratchet piece and one other thing?

dukedude4evr
12-21-2006, 07:04 AM
well, what the vortex mod does, is it makes the cyclone more efficent, uses less gas to cock back, and therefore, allows the cyclone to move faster. So in pball terms, GET IT IF U HAVE A CYCLONE.

Coenen
12-21-2006, 09:30 AM
The Cyclone has, like everything in paintball, a mechacnical cap. A point at which a certain setup of the mechanics can't cycle any faster or can no longer cycle effectively.

Ups like a QEV or Vortex mod help extend the stock Cyclone's mechanical cap, but there is still a point where it just can't do anymore. I believe that that point is still below the maximum cyclic rate of the marker.

dukedude4evr
12-21-2006, 01:57 PM
yeah i'm with coenen here, but overall stock an a-5 will be fine, once u hit an egrip, well, u can probably hit 21 consistently with a qev and vortex mod, maybe more with techT's lightning rod.....

Yup, that is generally how all markers work. They all have some form of front bolt that pushes the paintball into the barrel before the gas that actually fires the paintball is released.

I wonder how people make these animations?

FlamingoChavez
10-24-2008, 08:31 AM
Adobe image ready is your friend... i am but a mere padawan in the ways of .gif animations, but I've come up with a couple via image ready. There are some youtube videos on how to make animations. Once you figure that out, its a matter of creating each frame and linking them together.
